Raising $10,433 is a remarkable accomplishment for a group our size and these efforts continue to show people what Orange Beach and our employees are made of. Great Job! Friday Night April 28 OB SportsPlex City of Orange Beach Relay For Life Team raises $10K+ Setting new goals is a necessity in life and the bar was set high for Team OB which raised a Team Total of $10,433 for this years Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. Major fundraisers included the Don Brewer Golf Classic, Dollar Drive for City Employees, Community Yard Sale and more. Team Captain Jeanne Fitzgibbons and crew worked diligently since late Fall in planning and conducting fund raisers. Orange Beach has hosted the Relay event for several years now, and with each year, the OB Team has stepped up the fundraising. The Don Brewer Classic netted $3,850 for the cause with close to 100 golfers playing. A fun day was had by all at Soldiers Creek. The Dollar Drive brought lots of great prizes to many who donated $1 per payperiod (or more) and the Grand Prize Winner was Angela Williams, Recreation Center. Join all teams and supports in the fight against cancer this Friday night as opening ceremonies are set to begin at 6:30pm with first lap at 7pm. Stop by the OB SportsPlex and bring the family. This is a great family fun event. Blue Cross / Blue Shield Open Enrollment in June The month of June is open enrollment for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. This is the only time during the year that employees can add dependents, unless there is a life changing event (birth, marriage, adoption, etc.). Employees wishing to change to family coverage must come by City Hall and complete an enrollment application as soon as possible. Employees reaching their 3 year anniversary prior to June 1, 2007 and wish to add family members should contact Cathy Constantino at City Hall at 981-6979. Direct Deposit: Available to Save You Time & Energy City of Orange Beach employees have many benefits available to save time & money. The Finance Department has offered direct deposit of your payroll checks for 2 1/2 years. Go ahead and join the 138 co workers who utilize the convenience of direct deposit. Stop, think about recycling. The City of Orange Beach is currently taking online information about residents opinions on recycling in the city. Feedback has been positive but higher numbers of respondents always helps the decision making process. Go online to www.cityoforangebeach.com and complete the recycling survey today. An Ecycling Day is set for Friday, May 12 at City Hall. Gather up any electronic device, computer equipments, cell phone, pager, radios, etc. that can be dropped off at City Hall in the lobby all day. Donated items will be distributed to appropriate agencies for future use and recycling. Cell phones and such are great for various shelters in our area that can use them as emergency phones for those in need of such device. Coastal Wine Tour is set for May 19-21 at Waterfront Park in Orange Beach. The City of Orange Beach is a major sponsor of the event.
