SAND SCOOPS June 23, 2005 Volume 3, Issue 12 A NEWSLETTER FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF ORANGE BEACH “Welcome to our newest City Council member Tracy Holiday, Place 2, who fills the unexpired term of Tony Kennon who recently resigned. We wish Tony the best and look forward to working with Tracy in the future. Have a great Fourth of July weekend and enjoy the holiday.” - Steve Russo, Mayor New Council Member Appointed: Place Two Filled Mayor Steve Russo and the members of the City Council have been faced with what some call the toughest decision since they were elected...to fill the unexpired term of Tony Kennon, Place Two, who recently resigned his seat. After many resident calls and much phone tag around the community, the council had a majority vote to appoint Tracy Holiday to the seat. Tracy has served recently on the Planning Commission and volunteered to assist with Media Relations following Hurricane Ivan. Her involvement in the City has been consistent and she seeks to protect our community resources while looking at planned growth. We congratulate Tracy and her husband Tim McCrory on the appointment to the position. Good Luck to Tony on his future endeavors. 39th Annual BBQ: Another SELLOUT Despite Storm Great Job!! Great Job!! Great Job!! What more can be said for all the volunteers, firefighter chefs, drive thru staff, bakers, and chiefs. Despite the direct hit and exact timing of Tropical Storm Arlene, the barbecue was a complete sellout of the 4,200 or so pounds of meat. In the face of adversity, the fire department supporters made another successful mark on OB. SOLD OUT!!!
