“THE ADMIRAL’S LAST VOYAGE”
DESCRIPTION
The aims of the film are concerned with the life and times of Columbus and the importance of
historical events which subsequently changed the world and the way we think.
There are two main parts to the film, the moment of Columbus’ death and the symbolic clash of
cultures and ideas caused by the discovery of the New World as seen at the beginning.
“The Admiral’s Last Jorney” begins of Columbus’ deathbed, which allows us to fictionalize the feel
ways and experiences of his life via his conversations with his children and Friar Hernando de
Talavera, thereby enabling us get to know the character, his relationship with the crown and the
relevant facts about the discovery of America. Our main interest, however, centres on the human
side of Columbus, not forgetting his historical importance, to discover more about his personal
conflicts and fears.
