Check oil level by viewing at the oil level gauge at the right hand side of engine cover. 2. Engine oil can’t be seen at the level gauge, you need to replace or add oil. Brake Pad Check the front and rear wheel brake pads whether have been used to it’s limits. If “brake pad” is smaller than 1.5mm, change the pad. Caution: Do not use brake oil with interior quality Keep brake oil from contact to paint surface to avoid fading and chapping. Advice: Check the free play of lever after adjustment. Hold the brake lever to ensure proper function in the specified brake limit. 16 RKV MANUAL - ARTWORK.indd 16 23/7/2013 11:11:04 AM Engine oil replacement Rear Shock Absorber 1. Remove drain plug and oil filling cap. 2. It is easier to drain the oil when the engine is warm. 3. Change oil filter 5. Pour proper quantity of oil slowly into the engine 6. Tighten the oil screw after fulfilling Shock absorber springs is adjustable according to load conditions Spring adjust 1. Lift bike with main support. 2. Verify that both spring (left & right) remain at some height. Caution: Always used high quality engine oil. We suggest the quantity of oil poured into the engine is 1 Liter, and not overflow the upper line marked. Remember to change the engine oil periodically at every 2000km interval. Cautions: Left and right springs must be adjusted at same position, incorrect position will cause poor handling. 17 RKV MANUAL - ARTWORK.indd 17 23/7/2013 11:11:04 AM Spark Plug Air Filter • Air filter should be regularly maintained, especially when riding in areas full of dust and sand. • • Check spark plug at initial 1000km, if dirty use a small metal brush and clean the electrode Re-adjust spark plug gap between 0.6-0.8mm Re-adjust spark plug every 6000km Spark plug replacement 1. Disconnect cable form spark plug 2. Slacken spark plug and withdraw 3. Insert new spark plug with its gap and tighten 4. Connect cable to spark plug all the way in Maintenance of air filter: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Take off the right cover Take off bolts on lids of air filter Take off lid; Take out filter element; Wash the filter element in clean washing oil and make it dry; Soak the filter element in clean oil and squeeze off the extra oil; Reinstall all the parts in the reversed order. Advise: Do not tighten too much, just until limit. Use spark plug NGK DR8EA as recommended. Caution: Remember to replace the filter element if it is worn out Improper fixing of the filter element may cause dust into engine, by which engine performance and usage life may be affected 18 RKV MANUAL - ARTWORK.indd 18 23/7/2013 11:11:05 AM Battery Fuse Check the electrolyte of the battery every 1000km. Verifying your battery 1. Make sure main switch is OFF 2. Remove left cover pulling out 3. Disconnect battery 4. Replenish the electrolyte of the battery timely except for the maintenance free type which needs no inspection. If any electrical component is not working or is working improperly or the engine does not turn on, check your motorcycle fuse. Fuse Checking 1. Set motorcycle over main support 2. Check fuse condition, replace if damaged Warning: Do not apply fuse with improper capacity Replace the electrical appliances with original brand or other specified product. Advise: If the fuse is out of order just after replacement, go to a Keeway Service Centre immediately to check any short circuit issue. Carburetor Caution: Avoid overfilling Do remember not to remove the sealing plug of battery A stable vaporization is the basis of the engine’s performance. The carburetor has been regulated to its best condition in the factory, which must not be changed. What you need to do is to check on the free play of throttle cable and idle speed. Idle Speed Adjustment of Carburetor • For an accurate idle speed adjustment, the engine should be under a normal operating temperature. • Stand the motorcycle in vertical position and start the engine to warm up. • Adjust the idle speed with air damper limit screw. Idle speed: 1,400±100r/min 19 RKV MANUAL - ARTWORK.indd 19 23/7/2013 11:11:07 AM Advice: This is the maximum interval for adjustment. Actually it should be regularly checked before riding. Over looseness would make the chain fall off the path, which can result in accidents or severe damage to the engine. 1. 2. 3. 4. Drive Chain Appropriate lubricant and adjustment is needed for its service life. Frequent maintenance is needed to prolong chain life. Adjustment of Chain: Adjust the looseness of the chain from 10 to 15mm at every 1000 km interval. Prop the motorcycle; Loosen the rear axle nut; Loosen the chain adjuster nut; Rotate the adjust bolt to the left or right to adjust the looseness and keep the front and back sprocket in a line. Reference marks are made on the swing arms and adjusters, which can be aimed at and taken as references from one point to the other. Keep the looseness between 10 and 20mm, readjust the rear axle nut and have a final inspection. Note: Check the front and rear sprocket for any signs of worn out before changing the chain. Advice: The chain head-clamp is on the open end, install it in reverse direction of running. Chain head-clamp 20 RKV MANUAL - ARTWORK.indd 20 23/7/2013 11:11:08 AM Have a regular inspection on the following parts: 1. Loose pin 2. Broken trolley 3. Dried and rusted chain link 4. Twisted or knotted chain link 5. Over abrasion 6. Adjust the loose chain link The chain sprocket could be damaged with the problems found as above mentioned. 1. 2. 3. Over worn sprocket Broken or damaged tooth Sprocket fastening nut or bolt. Lubrication of the Drive Chain • The driving chain lubricant shall be used in preference to motor oil or other lubricants. This lubricant is available in most of the motorcycle agencies. Infuse the chain links so that the lubricant can reach every chain plate, pin, bush and roller. Tire A proper tire pressure is the basis of stable performance, comfortable ride and sturdiness. Check on the tire pressure and adjust accordingly. Check tire pressure under a “cold” condition before riding. Tire pressure under normal temperature: Front Tire Rear Tire 190±10 kpa 210±10 kpa Advice: Exceeding the specified tyre pressure would result in abrasion of its tread and could compromise safety. Insufficient tyre pressure could cause skidding. Over-worn tyres have lower traction to the road surface and are very dangerous for riding. Change the tires when the central thread depth is as follows: Minimum thread depth Front Tire 1.6mm Rear Tyre 2.0mm 21 RKV MANUAL - ARTWORK.indd 21 23/7/2013 11:11:08 AM Cleaning After Lay Off Set-Up Regular wash is of importance to extend the usage life of your motorcycle Wash your motorcycle Charge and re-charge the battery if needed.
