wood, metal and glass give the room a
vibrant modern feel.
Every year Jack Celli, the Interior Design
Director for Greenpark Homes, looks
forward to the challenge of designing the
fabulous Grand Prize Showhome interior
for the Princess Margaret Hospital
Foundation’s Home Lottery.
Lavishly decorated and accessorized, this
8,150 sq. ft. Park Avenue 9 home in
Thornhill definitely reflects a sense of
modern elegance.
Selba takes pride in having supplied all of
the cabinetry and Jack was able to work
with kitchen designer Elena Heng to
complete the look he was aspiring for in
the Kitchen. “Jack’s intentions were to
keep the design simple and clean.” says
Elena. “So we went with a clean-lined
white mission door style”.
Visual impact was achieved by illuminating
some of the upper cabinets as well as the
Some unique features are the oversized
double sinks, and the backsplash which
is made up of circular glass tiles. It is an
eye-catching design statement that
compliments the simplicity of the
cabinetry and white marble countertops
nicely.

adorned with dark maple Selba
cabinetry and features a “his” and “her”
design concept with granite countertops
throughout.
Not missing a beat in terms of modern
convenience and luxury, this admirable
home has an estimated worth of over 3
million dollars.

Selba’s Featured Kitchen: Designed by Danielle Blais
Every month a kitchen by one of our own designers is
featured on our website (www.selba.ca) to promote our
product. This month’s featured kitchen was designed by
Danielle Blais who works out of the Oakville showroom.
Danielle started this design where all designs begin,
determining the needs of her client and translating them
to a functional space, that not only looks great but is
user friendly as well.
To add to the working triangle, pullout shelves, magic
corners and a recycling centre were added to allow for
a more organized design and maximize their storage
space.
It was important to the clients for their kitchen to serve
as a central hub for their family and friends, a trend that
is becoming increasingly more common among the
average family. A large central island with seating
addressed this request and created a visible anchor for
the kitchen.
A desire for visual interest and additional lighting was
achieved by adding pot lights to the upper most
cabinets. By incorporating lighting to these upper areas,
a warm glow resonates outward and creates a truly
grand look.
The intricacy of decorative posts, wire mesh detailing
and tiled backsplash lend depth and interest to the
kitchen when examined closely. An open shelf cabinet
featuring spice drawers, highlights some decorative
storage space for wine glasses etc. within the kitchen.
Double stacked uppers, with crown and header
moulding to the ceiling, created a great use of
height among the 10’ ceilings. Whenever possible,
it is recommended to take full advantage of tall
ceiling heights in order to maximize storage space,
and provide an impressive elevation of the room.
The stainless steel state of the art appliances and
deep stainless sink with pullout faucet are modern
conveniences that compliment the traditional look
of the kitchen nicely. There is a sense of
sophistication in the design, including the
gorgeous granite countertops, with a lot of
contemporary features at hand.
Finally she addressed the clients’ love of dark
stains, but fears of a dark overpowering space by
using the chocolate only for the island and the
hood. By keeping the majority of cabinets in a light
painted finish, the clients were able to have their
dark stained wood and still have a light open
feeling space. This look was achieved using a
Coventry doorstyle for the chocolate island, and a
St. Moritz doorstyle for the remainder of the
kitchen.
Overall Danielle and her clients were very happy
with the outcome of their kitchen. A sense of
warmth, luxury and functionality were all
accomplished in the space and they were thankful
to have their design be selected as this month’s
featured kitchen.

Experiencing Sub-Zero
& Wolf Appliances
Oakville Showroom Manager, Brenda Baranowski,
was recently invited by the Sub-Zero and Wolf
Appliance Companies to attend a 4 day product
launch at their main office and Showroom
Headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin. The trip
catered to 60 industry professionals from across
North America, and included with Brenda on the trip
was a team of well-known designers within the GTA.
Such guests included Michael London from the
Gluckstein Design, Steve Bassie from Crayon
Design, Melissa Walsh from Wayne Swadron
Interiors, Dominic De Freitas from Mike Niven Interior
Design, Stephanie Dimopolous and Angela Salluce
from the Daniels Corporation as well as Anna Manca
from Maroline Industries.
The trip was designed to familiarize designers with
the state of the art manufacturing, distribution and
training complex for Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances,
while also introducing a brand new product line. The
impressive facility showcased a number of working
kitchens equipped to demonstrate the storage and
cooking functions available while using their
products.
The New Sub-Zero product line is offering built-in
refrigerators and freezers with a whole new range of
models. These new models significantly extend the
"built-in" concept. It gives designers a wider choice of
creative options, while at the same time it gives
consumers the latest advance in Sub-Zero’s uniquely
effective food preservation technology. A new INSET
installation option allows these units to sit flush with
surrounding cabinets or side panels. In essence,
they’ll look very much like their integrated units, but
they will be easier to install.

Steve Bassie, Dominic De Frietas, Anna Manca, Michael
London, Stephanie Dimopolous.
The Wolf product line has even improved their very
popular Induction Cooktops. They have added a
new 30” and 36” induction model, and modified their
current 15” model to match. To improve the ease of
installation, they replaced the old four-foot flex
conduit with a terminal box. The other popular
features remain intact, including pan-sensing
technology and lock mode (both excellent for child
safety). New features include a high power boost,
making boiling water that much quicker, and a
countdown timer. All of these new induction
cooktops will be available in October 2007 and they
will be offered with the classic stainless steel trim.
The Sub-Zero and Wolf training facility (otherwise
known as the Westye F. Bakke Center) was as
impressive as the products it promotes. Designed
and decorated with much attention to detail and
luxury, it could easily make any designer feel at
home and look forward to returning.
