Center for Mark Twain Studies Elmira College One Park Place Elmira, NY 14901 (607) 735-1941 Share in a Tradition that Transforms Lives The Mark Twain Study The Mark Twain Exhibit on the Elmira College Campus in historic Cowles Hall About the Study: The Study, designed by Susan Crane, sister-in-law of Mark Twain, originally sat on East Hill overlooking the Chemung River Valley. It was moved to the Elmira College Campus in 1952 so visitors could experience the space where Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn were created. About the Exhibit: The Cowles Hall exhibition—housed in a single room combined with hallway displays—features expansive photographs, Langdon Mansion and Quarry Farm antiques, and media highlighting Quarry Farm. Follow the directional arrows in the Cowles Hall Rotunda that point towards the North Wing exhibition hallway and room.
