Twenty-Third (we think!) Annual Chamber Concert
Series Drawing Big Crowds
The longest-running series of free summer concerts in
Tuolumne County history is well underway and bringing
people to Twain Harte from near and far. This year’s series
began with “Jim Anderson and the Rebels,” who gave local folks and visitors to Twain Harte an authentic Elvis
experience. “Elvis” was followed by “Nigel & Clive and
the British Invasion,” who filled Eproson Park with laughter, the “British Beat” and songs from the ’60s. Their new
guitar player added a technical flair and several local folks
came dressed in British attire. “Jukebox Heroes” rocked
the Pines in ’70s fashion on the Fourth of July, and many
dancers came dressed-to-kill in Fourth of July costumes.
“Jana & Friends” played jazz standards, dance hits,
and, Jana says, the crowd’s favorite tune was a cover of a
Sam Smith song, “I’m Not the Only One.”
A number of people, organizations and businesses have

Fire Resistant Landscaping
A fire-safe landscape isn't necessarily the same
thing as a well-maintained yard. A fire-safe landscape
uses fire-resistant plants that are strategically planted
to resist the spread of fire to your home. Fire resistant
plants are great in California because they are often
drought tolerant too.
The good news is, you don't need a lot of money to
make your landscape fire-safe. And you will find that
a fire-safe landscape can increase your property value
and conserve water while beautifying your home.

Choose Fire-Resistant Plants and Materials
 Create fire-safe zones with stone walls, patios,
decks and roadways.
 Use rock, mulch, flower beds and gardens as
ground cover for bare spaces and as effective firebreaks.
 There are no "fire-proof" plants. Select high moisture plants that grow close to the ground and have
a low sap or resin content.
 Choose fire-retardant plant species that resist ignition such as rockrose, iceplant and aloe.
 Fire-resistant shrubs include hedging roses, bush
honeysuckles, currant, cotoneaster, sumac and
shrub apples.
 Plant hardwood, maple, poplar and cherry trees
that are less flammable than pine, fir and other
conifers.
Check your local nursery, landscape contractor or
county extension service for advice on fire-resistant
plants that are suited for your environment, and help to
plan you landscape. Learn more about the different
types of plants that are both fire-resistant and drought
tolerant.

The Chamber will celebrate the 30th year of W ines
In The Pines on July 25th and 26th at Meadow Plaza.
We are pleased to announce that twelve wineries are
participating in this year’s tasting. The event is open
from 12 noon to 3:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with Twain Harte’s Summer Arts
and Wine Street Faire and Custom Car Show. Jana
and Leroy will have tunes that are pleasing to the ear
and food is being presented by Eproson House and
Jamestown Olive Oil Company. The cost of the event
is $25.00 per person and includes a “Twain Harte
Wines In The Pines 2015” souvenir wine glass. Tickets are available at the Chamber office between the
hours of 10:00 to 2:00 Monday through Saturday.

Barefoot brings Wines to the
Pines Again

For several years, Barefoot Winery has been very
generous to the Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce with donations to our Wines in the Pines event.
Randy Arnold, the Barefoot Winery Ambassador, is
celebrating his 25th Anniversary representing the Winery. In the early days of the Barefoot Winery, Randy
began donating wine to non-profits as a way to promote the brand and raise consumer awareness and loyalty. Twenty-five years later Randy has donated Barefoot Wines and Bubblies to over 200 non-profits. He
loves to support events and causes that the local communities hold dear. One of his favorite events is the
Wines under the Pines in Twain Harte. According to
Randy, “The Twain Harte Community is very supportive of Barefoot so it’s great to support this wonderful local event!” People really know wine in the
foothills making it a great place to promote and sell
our wines and Bubblies!” He adds, “In California every direction is wine country!” Randy loves to discover
small wineries tucked away in the beautiful communities of the foothills.
The Chamber is very grateful for Randy’s — and
Barefoot’s — ongoing support! Thank you, Randy!
