Things Unseen
by Mark Buchanan
Blending pastoral warmth,
philosophical depth, storytelling
skill, and literary craft, Mark
Buchanan encourages Christians
to make heaven, literally, our
“fixation” – filling our vision,
gripping our heart, and anchoring
our hope.
Only then, says
Buchanan, can
we become
truly fearless on
this earth, free
from the fear
of losing our
life, property,
status, title, or
comfort; free
from the threat
of tyrants, the power of
armies, and the day of trouble.
Buchanan reawakens the
instinctive yearning for things
above, showing that only the
heavenly minded are of much
earthly good.

Peachtree bookstore.

Feed My Starving
Children
On the weekend of September 10-12
the Peachtree community will have a
great opportunity to literally save lives
while serving with our family and friends.
We will be packing 225,000 meals
for starving children. To reach this goal, we will need over 1,000 volunteers
during the weekend.
To partcipate, please visit www.peachtreepres.org/fmsc and
sign up for a two-hour shift. The event
is open to anyone in the community. It
is a great experience for groups such as
sports teams and scout troops.
We hope that everyone will make this
a priority and join us in the Peachtree
Gym for this fun family experience
as we come together as a community
to save lives of the most vulnerable
children in the world.

Where everyone’s welcome, nobody’s perfect, and anything is possible.
Today in worship
This morning, Dr. Mark Crumpler will preach at 8:45, 10:00 and 11:15 a.m. as we
continue our sermon series “Psalm 23: The Soul of Summer”. The scripture for today’s sermon “Home” is Psalm 23:6.
CONNECT WITH OUR COMMUNITY
Come down to “Take 10” in the Williams Center immediately after the service.
You’ll find coffee, lemonade and a cookie waiting.
NEW TO PEACHTREE
• Tours of Peachtree: If you are new to Peachtree and would like to learn more
about all of our exciting environments, begin by taking a Tour of Peachtree! Tours are offered the first Sunday of every month and begin in the Williams Center after every worship service. Next Tour: SEPTEMBER 5
• Exploring Peachtree:
Join us in Room 2315 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. where you’ll learn more
about Peachtree and have the opportunity to join our church community. This
interactive class is led by the Evangelism Team who will help you get connected at Peachtree. A light breakfast will be served. Next Class: TODAY
To schedule a Tour or register for Exploring Peachtree, please contact Brooke Baldasare,
Evangelism Associate, at bbaldasare@peachtreepres.org or call 404.842.5825.
As we prepare to worship we ask that all cell phones and beepers be turned off and that food and
drinks remain outside the Sanctuary. Parents, we want this time of worship to be a meaningful
experience for you. If, during the service, your child needs attention, the Parlor (Room 3319)
is available to you. The room is equipped with comfortable furniture and closed-circuit TV so
you can continue to participate in the worship service while tending to the needs of your child.

C e l e b r a t i o n of
worship
Welcome to
worship! Today
we conclude our
summer series on
the 23rd Psalm.
The last verse ends
with confident
language. God’s
goodness and
mercy are ours
throughout every
day of life. How
have you seen
goodness and
mercy in your
own life through
the weeks of this
summer?
Psalm 103, a
hymn of praise
and thanks (“bless” can also be
translated “praise”),
is a fitting call to
worship as we
remind each other
of God’s gracious
generosity. Praise
My Soul, the King
of Heaven is based
on Psalm 103.
What about God
makes you want
to praise God this
morning? For what
benefits do you
bless God?

Gracious and Merciful God, your goodness and mercy
have followed us throughout every season of our life.
You have pursued us with your goodness when we
refused to be good to others. You have come after us
with grace and mercy when we would not be merciful.
You have followed us even when we would not follow
you. Forgive us for failing to receive these gifts with
gratitude and obedient love. Follow us with your love and
lead us as a good shepherd until we make our way home
to you. Pour out your goodness and mercy as we offer
our silent confessions…

Pastoral Prayer and Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors,
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.

Offering Our Gifts
Offertory Softly and Tenderly Raymond Brown Nathan Munson, soloist
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
See, on the portals He’s waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.
Come home, come home,
Ye who are weary come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!
Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not his mercies,
Mercies for you and for me?
Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,
Passing from you and from me;
Shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,
Coming for you and for me.
Oh! For the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me;
Though we have sinned He has mercy and pardon,
Pardon for you and for me.
Come home, come home,
Ye who are weary come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling O sinner come home!
*Those who are able, please stand. **Ushers will seat latecomers at this time.
