“Committed to His Will, His Way, and His Word” Come to the Table August 28, 2016 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19 (NKJ) It is the vision of Mount Olive to be a church that is intentional in its efforts to identify and meet the needs of broken, hurt and oppressed people in the greater Glen Allen area through the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. KINGDOMTIDE August 28 — November 26, 2016 The Pulpit Attire is Green. We are in the season of KINGDOMTIDE, the color of KINGDOMTIDE is GREEN. The color GREEN symbolizes growth. KINGDOMTIDE runs from August 28 until Advent. KINGDOMTIDE is the newest of the seasons, dating no farther back than the late 1930’s. KINGDOMTIDE gives place for due attention to the eternal presence of Christ and His Kingship —with the parallel emphasis upon our stewardship. Its emphasis on the kingship of Christ and His kingdom, challenges us in our daily lives and in every area of our existence. Theme For This Quarter: “TOWARD A NEW CREATION” The study of this quarter is primarily from the Old Testament book of Zephaniah and the New Testament book of Romans. The three units follow the theme of God’s New Creation as it pertains to our new life in Christ. UNIT 3 -- LIFE ON GOD’S TERMS The four lessons in this unit focus on the benefits and demands of living a life for God as a new creation in Christ. Perhaps while reading the announcements you realized you have never made a Christian commitment. Don’t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God’s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). September 4, 2016 NEXT WEEK’S LESSON: “The Peaceful Kingdom” Isaiah 11:1-9 We live in a world full of divisions, hatred, trouble, and chaos. Will we ever experience harmony? Isaiah’s prophecy reveals that the sovereign God will bring about a world of peace. * MONDAY: God’s Offer to Solomon 1 Kings 3:3-9 * TUESDAY: God’s Pleased with Solomon’s Requests 1 Kings 3:10-15 * WEDNESDAY: Live Together in Harmony 1 Peter 3:8-13 * THURSDAY: Build a Peaceful Lifestyle 2 Peter 1:3-11 * FRIDAY: Support the Interest of Others Philippians 2:1-11 * SATURDAY: Build a Just and Righteous Community Psalm 72:1-7 * SUNDAY: Presiding Over a Peaceful Community Isaiah 11:1-9 Sermon Highlights HOW TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART August 21, 2016 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise to us is clear: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12). 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God’s family. Tell some one else what Jesus has done in your life! MOBC Bible Institute Title: “A Step In The Right Direction” Text: Philippians 3:7-14 Main Idea: This life in which we live involves taking steps. Three things necessary for taking a step in the right direction: Points: 1) Taking a step in the right direction requires honesty. 2) Taking a step in the right direction requires effort. 3) Taking a step in the right direction requires vision.
