Tarence Kinsey Foundation (Non-profit) Organization, Tampa, Florida was established on 21 September 2009, for the purpose of establishing and supporting community projects, especially those involving our youth and their families in Tampa Bay community and surrounding areas. 1. Mission: Our mission is to empower and motivate our youth by developing and fostering goal setting accountability and social responsibility skills. We will instill a “Yes I Can” Commitment to achievement with focus on academics, health, physical fitness and career preparedness 2. Goal: Is to increase the amount of kids we help every year by providing more college scholarships, mentoring programs, life skills events, and additional educational and athletic resources to help better the lives of our youth. 3. Vision: Our ultimate vision is to enrich the quality of life for our youth and their families. We have a strong focus on helping kids understand their potential, proper decision making and community to family. Mentoring Program: Is a program within the TK Foundation called “Circle Me” with the mission of improving the social, moral, physical and mental well being of young teens. We impart information and skills that educate, promote leadership, accountability, health and wellness. Our aim is to circle the individual with love and support help to enrich his or her quality of life. Our goal is to ensure that every teen reach their highest potential. TK’s Annual Celebration Dinner this year will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Westin Tampa Bay on Rocky Point. The foundations goal is to raise $10,000 to go towards the 20152016 Tarence Kinsey Foundation’s scholarships fund. Tarence is the All-time leading scorer with 1, 830 points. Tarence attended JHS from 1998-2002. Take a multi-vitamin every day and get your recommended amount of calcium through food or supplements as well as vitamin D and omega-3 fats. September: Sport Activities: USF Men’s Basketball Camp: The TK Foundation was able to sponsor our mentee’s Jeremiah and Rashard for the USF Men’s Basketball Camp this June. The boys had a great time, learned a lot, and received great exposure from the USF coaches. VOLUME 1 ISSUE 2 Page 3 Community Activities: TK” & Friends Pro Skills Basketball Camp will take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26th at Jefferson High School. The skills camp will include: offense, defense, shooting, ball handling, agility, and “off court” life skills. The players will be taught the same drills as the NBA! The City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc. recognized our founder, Tarence Kinsey, as the youngest African American Sports Legend of Tampa Bay. The awards ceremony was held on February 18, 2015 at the Tampa Convention Center. TK Foundation 3rd Annual Celebration “Fund Raising” Dinner this year will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Westin Tampa Bay on Rocky Point. Veterans of Saudi Arabia (VOSA) “Give Day Tampa Bay” Brand Awareness in the Community “Circle Me at Give Day Tampa Bay”- Public Speaking 2014 “Circle Me” Graduate Dequan Wilson and Executive Director, Lisa McPherson—Howell (above); overcame their public speaking fears by appearing “Live” on PBS—WEDU for “Give Day Tampa Bay”. “Give Day Tampa Bay” was held on May 5th to bring recognition and awareness to Tampa Bay nonprofits. Lisa and Dequan were selected as one of Tampa Bay’s nonprofits to be interviewed. They were able to create awareness and brand recognition for the TK Foundation, and helped the foundation raise money.
