ANNUAL REPORT 2015 Annual Report 2014-2015 Sept. 1, 2014 - Aug. 31, 2015 7,000 2,000 of leadership & professional development hours volunteers received. # # of connections made through community outreach. of youth, young adults & adults who learned how to have hard conversations with people who don't look like them last year. # 1,475 93% Increased their comfort in facilitating dialogue or learned how to make those hard conversations happen. 83% Recognized the impact of stereotypes, prejudice & discrimination. 80% Experienced meaningful cross-cultural interactions. That is to say they got to know someone different from them. 69% Increased their civic engagement and/or social responsibility. EXPANDING THE CONVERSATION Provided an interactive educational session on Racial Privilege for 550 incoming freshman at Eckerd University. Kicked off partnership with Tampa Bay Times' award-winning Newspaper in Education program to promote dialogue between Muslims and non-Muslims in Tampa Bay (with funding from the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Arts). Laid the groundwork to grow to 3 ANYTOWN sessions in 2016. 2015 marked 25 years of ANYTOWN! Pinellas County students receive 1/2 of a social studies credit for ANYTOWN completion. ANYTOWN Year-Round: Facilitating the Leadership of Youth (FLY) A youth empowerment group dedicated to elevating youth voice in addressing issues affecting young people in our community. Students complete servicelearning projects, and service hours are provided. "I had always thought of myself as a person who was well-developed in understanding discrimination and how to end it. I have grown so much this past week. This has been an eyeopening experience." - Hannah, 2015 ANYTOWN graduate ANYTOWN Year-Round: Be Intentional Institutes Continuing education sessions for ANYTOWN residential graduates, which are organized around opportunities to SOCIALize with peers, build new SKILLS and receive SERVICE hours. Youth-Adult Partnerships Volunteer Engagement Prepares youth and young adults for success as inclusive leaders. Training for volunteers includes 30 hours of development in four fundamental benchmarks of cultural agility that help our volunteers provide topnotch service to CTB and also contribute to their professional and leadership development. We need to have more of these conversations." - George, 2015 Professional Education participant Youth Leadership Conferences Oneday mini ANYTOWN sessions giving middle and highschool aged students the opportunity to begin experiencing meaningful crosscultural interactions and dialogue. These skills are the foundation for students to become inclusive leaders. Professional Education: Cultural Competence Training Customized training that empowers leaders and employees in youth and youngadult serving institutions (including schools, colleges, universities and nonprofit organizations) to leverage inclusion to create high performing teams that effectively serve their diverse communities.
