Members advocate the reuse and preservation of older homes and structures because they are the physical repositories of our history. Preservation is also "good business" and protects our landfills from excess waste. The Reed Historic District was designated by San Jose City Council in June, . It reflects the context of early residential development south of Washington Square San Jose State University from to the s. The District is bounded by South th St., South th St., East San Salvador St., and Interstate Freeway . Donations of property, estates and specialty items are needed to continue our educational goals. Please call to join or donate. The PAC*SJ office is located at the Petit Trianon, North th Street, San Jose, CA . Built in the early ’s, the Field Family Home is an excellent example of the Victorian era Queen Anne style and features many decorative elements such as wall materials slapboard, fishscale shingles, and carved panels, and ornament such as molded and carved details, bull’s eyes, and spindles. One of the most distinguishing features of the building is the verandah located east of the bay window. It is heavily decorated with spindles and trim which form a semicircular arch over the top of the stairway. It has a high degree of integrity as the location, design, materi als, workmanship, feeling, and association appear to be unchanged and could qualify as a Candidate City Landmark. Board Members Joe Melehan, President Helen Stevens, Vice President Judi Henderson, Treasurer Julia Howlett, Secretary Jaime Angulo Patricia Curia Norman Finnance Gayle Frank Ellen Garboske Rachel Gibson Catherine Gowen Brian Grayson Andre Luthard James Williams Jim Zetterquist Staff Megan Bellue, Executive Director Milady Casco, Assistant to the Director www.Preservation.org The current owners, Walter and Sandra Soellner, recently painted the exterior using colors. Walter is a retired art professor and Sandra is a retired insurance administrator. Both have decorated the home with antiques and unique furniture. The recently finished third floor serves as the family study and ball room.
