Agricultural Science Lecture Series Modern Poultry Farming in a Poultry Integrated Structure - Malaysia Date : 24 Oct 2011 (Monday) Time : 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm Venue : DDK1, Faculty of Science, UTAR Perak Campus (Free Admission) Poultry industry, in particular the broiler production, is an important food sector of Malaysian agriculture. Malaysians do not just love to eat chicken but it is one of the cheapest sources of protein in the country. As per capita incomes rises, the demand of chicken meat will increase, and currently, Malaysians are among the world’s highest poultry consumers with an average consumption of 37 kg/person/year. Due to the changes in Malaysian lifestyles and the availability of a variety ready-to-cook chicken products, there is no stopping the demand for chicken meat, and it is expected to increase further in the years to come. Therefore, in order to meet the increasing demand for chicken meat for the domestic and export markets, local poultry integrators like Malayan Flour Mills Berhad are investing in modern poultry farming as well as to keep abreast with present technological changes. The speaker will share with the audience his knowledge of the poultry integration business, breeding technology to ensure the highest quality day-old-chicks (DOC) production, broiler farming system conforming to the “Skim Akreditasi Ladang Ternakan Malaysia (SALT)” as well as the career prospects in the poultry integration division. Speaker’s profile: Dr. Chay Seong Hoe received his DVM Degree (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 1997. Since his graduation, he has been involved in poultry industry for the last 14 years. Throughout his career he has been specializing in the field of Broiler Breeder and Hatchery of day-old-chicks (DOC). Currently, Dr. Chay is the Senior Manager for Dindings Broiler Breeder Sdn Bhd (A subsidiary of Malayan Flour Mills Berhad) and he leads the innovation solutions to the Group broiler breeder health and performance as well the quality of day-old-chicks(DOC).
