2nd WVPA-WPSA Scientific Conference
FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT 2nd WVPA-WPSA (Malaysia Branch) Scientific Conference “Enhancing Innovation in Poultry Health and Production” 21-22 September 2015 Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre In Conjunction With: 5 Introduction The Malaysian livestock industry is an important and integral component of the agricultural sector, providing gainful employment and producing useful animal protein food for the population. Poultry and pig farming represent by far the major proportion of the livestock industry in terms of output value. To-date, the poultry industry in Malaysia has an annual production of eggs and meat valued at RM1.78 billion and RM6.03 billion, respectively. Although our poultry industry is self-sufficient, the industry is facing constant threats and challenges. Productivity is influenced primarily by the soaring prices of feed ingredients, poor quality feed and consumer concern over the safety of poultry products, whilst infectious diseases caused by viruses and bacteria have a significant economic impact on the entire value chain of poultry production. These challenges have demonstrated the need to innovate and improve the operation, management and disease control, and prevention strategies to ensure that Malaysian poultry industry is sustainable and continues to contribute significantly to national food security. In this regard, the World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) and World Poultry Science Association (WPSA) of the Malaysia Branch are organising a two-day scientific conference in conjunction with the Livestock Asia Expo 2015 with the theme of “Enhancing Innovation in Poultry Health and Production”. The organising committee would like to invite you to participate in this conference. The conference will host international and local speakers from universities, research institutes and industries in the sharing of innovative knowledge and technologies, and networking to foster future collaboration in poultry production, nutrition and health.
