Here we are at the start of yet another new year. I hope everyone enjoyed the Holiday Season.
I would first like to extend a Thank You to Jerry Weiler for his service as the 2015 club president.
I would also like to thank the Niemis for hosting the planning meeting pizza party. It was a
very fun day and I was told that the pizza oven baked it's 700th pizza at the event. Here's to
another 700 and more!
As the newest member of the club, I am hoping to get a better understanding of how to
proceed with the responsibilities of being president. I welcome any and all suggestions, threats
etc. I would also like to thank those of you who stepped backward when Jerry asked for
volunteers to step forward. Just kidding, I volunteered.
I have enjoyed the club activities over the past year and look forward to this upcoming
cruising in “Beulah” (our “E” Bird). The events selected for this year I think will be quite enjoyable
for all of us. I am looking forward to getting to know each one of you better as the year
progresses.
Thanks to those who volunteered to plan and host an event.

Gordon Thorne brought up the idea of visiting Classic Reflections Coachworks, the premier
Retro-Vette manufacturer and is located in Washington. Many have seen what appears to be a C
-1 Vette, but they are really modern Vettes with 50s and 60s bodies.
Classic Reflection Coachworks (CRCoachworks) has been in business since 2001. The
concept however, of the Retro-Vette, was created in 1993 by owner and designer Doug Graf.
CRCoachworks offers a high quality automobile like no other that is designed, manufactured
and built locally. CR has given Rebirth of a Legend and rekindle dreams of that Classic Corvette
many dreamed of. Built on a C5 (98-04) or C6 (05-13) Corvette convertible, so you can drive an
early model Corvette with the modern convenience of today's technology
Gordon will provide more information on the incredible opportunity.
Date will be announced shortly.

Ah, the food offerings at our January gathering at
hosts, Nancy and Duane Niemi’s home. Duane
was busy getting the fire in the pizza oven roaring as members drifted in, carrying pizza toppings of their choice plus familiar and not-sofamiliar appetizers and desserts.
As usual, the conversation was lively, some out on
the deck with Duane, most of us inside enjoying
the many food delights.
Nancy once again demonstrated how to shape the
pizza dough and gave full instructions on how
to spread the sauce and cautioned us “an inch
from the edges, don’t spread it once it is on the
peel and for heaven sakes, don’t pile it too
high,” all cautions to keep Duane from baking
“oopses” in the oven. We’d like him to keep
that fire roaring! Let the assembly and baking
of our individual pizzas begin!
Once the baking was done, Jerry Weiler brought
the business meeting to order and quickly
handed over the gavel (figuratively) to our new
president, Sam Brindley. If history is any indicator, Karen Brindley will be right there at his
side keeping Sam and PSEB on track! We welcome you, Sam! Other officers are VP Cheryl
McCurdy, Secretary Darlene Rohwein and
Treasurer Nancy Niemi.
We thank Gordon Thorne for his excellent sugges-

‘Retro-Vettes’ being assembled. Do you
think they could do that with Baby Birds?
The meeting commenced and there was
much discussion as to what events we

all agreed that it was mostly the
members getting together with
their Baby Birds and ‘kibitzing’.
See “The Prez Says” for a listing
of events. Please contact Sam if
there are any errors.
Our Secretary gave her report. See
Secretary’s Report for details.

As Agreed in the Planning
Meeting, the event host will
write the lead event article or
at least an outline and submit it
to the Newsletter Editor.
Your Editor will be traveling a
good deal over the next 8

Thank you for your

WEBSITE: The website is back up and running. We’ve moved to a new hosting company and
some of the links may not work yet. If you spot a broken link (ERROR 404 Page Not Found)
sent me a note and I’ll try to fix it.
WEBSITE SUPPORT: MeritWorks, Indianapolis, is helping Puget Sound Early Birds with its
site. They are providing technical support when your webmaster runs into a problem. The
President only asks that when he comes out to visit the Seattle area, he would like a ‘garage
tour’ and possibly a drive in a baby bird. The President of MeritWorks knows about “Birds” as
he has a 1967 Firebird
Sprint, which had been
converted to a Firebird 400
with two quads.

Our first 2016 meeting was held on January 16 at the home of
Duane and Nancy Niemi. The highlights follow:
•
Jerry Weiler, our outgoing President, opened the meeting
giving thanks to all the tour hosts for the work involved in
organizing and leading a tour. He noted “It’s like herding
cats”.
•
He thanked his wife Carol for all the work she did helping
him with the details of meetings, President’s messages
and the computer.
•
Secretary Darleen Rohwein gave the minutes report for the last meeting, which were approved.
•
Nancy Niemi, who had recently taken over the treasurer’s position, reported that we have
$1082.56 in the treasury. For 2016, 23 members have paid and 10 are still outstanding.
•
Bob Callard suggested that we invite the ladies who lost their loved one to one of the meetings.
Gordon Thorne thought that if they wished to come to a meeting or attend a tour, then they
should join the club. The motion was tabled.
•
Jerry Introduced the 2016 officers, President Sam Brindley, V.P. Cheryl McCurdy, Sec Darleen
Rohwein and Treas. Nancy Niemi before turning the meeting over to Sam.
New Business:
•
Tanya Johnson gave a report on buying new shirts and fleece jackets. We agreed on
Turquoise shirts cost around $30 and Navy Blue Fleece around $40. Anybody who wanted
one could sign up. Bob Callard said he would put full the information in the next Motor Mouth.
•
Our Newsletter Editor, Bob Callard said he and his wife will be traveling this year and would
like the event host to outline the article and take pictures on their tours for the Motor Mouth.
He will continue to edit the newsletter.
•
It was suggested that the Motor Mouth become a bi-monthly newsletter. This was approved.
So, effective this year the newsletters will be as follows: February & March; April & May; June
& July; August & September; October & November and December & January.
•
Our Webmaster mentioned that the site was down as he had been ‘piggy-backing’ free off a
friend’s server since 2008. The server was taken down this year, so two motions were put forward: A) Should PSEB continue with the website? B) If so, the cost would range from $5.00 to
$10 per month. Duane Niemi made a motion that the club would pay and not worry about it,
this was passed. So, Bob will obtain a new web hosting company.
•
There was a good deal of discussion on our events for 2016. Sam Brindley will outline them in
the President’s Message.
•
Martha Callard suggested those who wish to do a school supply get together again this year in
July. Several didn’t know anything about last year’s impromptu luncheon and collection of
school supplies, so Martha will put an article Motor Mouth and put out
an email to all members.
