Today the group is over 120 members strong and still growing. CSQG’s 2011 "Name that Tune" Challenge was to make a quilt that represents a song, interpreted as whatever the song means to you. Any construction method, technique or embellishments were allowed, but the quilt had to be made entirely by the member. This Challenge really showcases the talent found in the CSQG! Fran Rosenblum, friend of the Guild, for fabric. Janine Babich, friend of the Guild, for fabric. I don’t have a handmade thank you card like I did the last time from our day treatment folks, but the supervisor of our housing unit has had several of their consumers in and given them quilts – you cannot imagine the reaction! To be homeless and then finally have a place to live and be given something so beautiful as your quilts reduced many to tears. You have no idea what an impact your generosity has. Have a great day. Carolyn Wheat MSW Human Services Regional Coordinator Broward County Elderly and Veterans Services Division More than 70 foster children are currently growing up at the Village. Once lost and alone, today they are full of hope and joy – a reflection of your caring and generous heart. On behalf of our entire family, thank you so much for thinking of our children with your gift of 40 handmade quilts. FLORIDA CALENDAR OF EVENTS QUILTS AT THE CORNELL MUSEUM Color is everything this summer at the Cornell Museum of Art and Culture at Old School Square in Delray Beach. The museum’s current show, Color Outside the Lines, focuses on Crayon Art and the many uses of color. This is coloring as you never imagined it! To complement their theme, the Museum is now showing the twenty-five year collection of quilts from the South Florida Fair contests which make up the Palm Beach County Quilters’ Guild collection. Because of their size and limited space in other venues, this is the first time that the entire collection has ever been shown at one time. The museum is a wonderful venue with large galleries that allow us to show all of the quilts and it is spectacular to see them all hanging. In addition, two groups of small art quilts from the Quilters’ Innovative Design group are included with the display. “Colorganics” is a set of 13 quilts which show the range of the color spectrum. “Zipt” presents 10 small quilts, each of which contains one or more zippers as part of its design. The show opened July 12 and continues through October 23, 2011. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM and on Sunday from 1:00PM until 4:30 PM. Please check the Old School Square website: www.oldschool.org for specific information on hours, admission, and directions to Old School Square.
