HOW TO GET HERE
Santa Ynez is located approximately 40 miles north of Santa Barbara and 120 miles north of Los Angeles
International Airport. Most convenient airports are the Los Angeles Int’l Airport (LAX) or the Santa Barbara
Airport (SBA).
Driving time is approximately 2.5 hrs. from LAX. Shuttle service is available to the Santa Ynez Valley from
LAX or Santa Barbara. The Museum is located at 3596 Sagunto Street in Santa Ynez.
Shuttle Service: Central Coast Shuttle provides roundtrip service to and from Santa Barbara Airport or LAX. Pick
up and drop off location is at the Santa Ynez Marriott in Buellton. Call 1-800-470-8818 for information and
schedule. www.CentralCoastShuttle.com.
AMTRAK: An AMTRAK bus that comes to Buellton and Solvang
meets some trains at the Santa Barbara station. Call 1-(800) USA-rail
for reservations and schedules. You can make your bus reservation to
the Valley at the same time as your train reservation.
Valley Transit: These buses traverse the Valley from Buellton through
Solvang. Valley Transit runs Monday through Saturday 7:00 am to 6:50
pm, no service on Sunday. For more information call (805) 688-5452.

Patty West is the owner and director of South Coast Fine Arts Conservation Center in Santa Barbara, California. She
has been a practicing conservator for the past 30 years.

Rawhide Johnson is Chairman of the Board for The Yellowstone Historic Center and a founding member of the
Dave Hubert is a retired fire fighter from the Orange County Fire Authority and is a member of the California Firefighters Association. For the past 13 years Dave and his wife Barbara have owned and managed the CSFA Steamer
Team – a Fire Service Public Relations Program that travels throughout California in the interest of Fire Prevention
Education.
Michael Sanborn is Director of the Banning Residence Museum in Wilmington, California. Phineas Banning ran a
freighting business and stagecoach lines and was a founder of the Port of Los Angeles.
Bill Twigg is a wheelwright and owner of Moscow Carriage Co. in Moscow, Idaho. He is dedicated to custom wheel-
wrighting, wheelwright instruction, carriage building, restoration, and repair.
John Crockett is curator of the Parks/Janeway Carriage House. John has been an integral part of the Santa Ynez
Valley Historical Museum since 1981. John is also co-founder of the Santa Ynez Valley Carriage Club. John builds,
restores and drives carriages.
Art Perry is a Morgan horse breeder and showman. He is owner of Intrepid Farms in Santa Ynez and has been active
with Morgan Horses for over 50 years. Art loves to share his historical knowledge of the Morgan horse.

rides in Montana Rawhide developed a passion for the vehicle and now teaches the ideas and techniques of stagecoach
conservation and restoration.

Ashlee’s experience comes from working alongside Rawhide Johnson since 2001 on a variety of conservation and
preservation projects, including historic coaches and vehicles.
Bobby Tanner is a teamster and trainer of mules. Bobby grew up on his father’s Red’s Meadow Pack Station in the
Sierras. Bobby drove the re-created Borax Twenty Mule Team in the 1999 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. He
continues to drive the 20 mule team at the annual Bishop Mule Days in Bishop, California.
Doug Hansen is owner and operator of the Hansen Wheel & Wagon Shop in Letcher, South Dakota, specializing in
the restoration of heavy wagons and wheels. He performs all building and restoration work in the historic style of the
late 1800’s.
