From the Presidents
This will now be my 14th letter to the membership as your president. I promise you, that my ride
as president has been very rewarding but also very challenging. I have a difficult time
removing my professional work hat and putting on my CRC president hat. There have been a
few times that my friends have had to remind me that I‘m not at work. This is a very hard
lesson to learn and even more difficult to remember when dealing with situations at our club.
Thanks to all my CRC family members who have helped me overcome this struggle. I‘m very
proud of our work at the club and see a very bright future for the CRC family to build upon.
The next few months are full of activities. Please keep an eye on the calendar and support the
CRC events. The volunteers who make the programs happen are just that, VOLUTEERS !
Remember they need a pat on the back for their hard work. We will hit a few bumps and make a
few bad decisions, but we will learn from our mistakes and our successes . We should always
keep an open mind on how best to improve the program at the CRC. Your kind words and
loving support is needed and appreciated.
Remember, to purchase a bucket of beer and take a stroll on the dock to watch the wonderful
sunset over the Ashley River.

As you all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I would like you all to just
take a moment and consider these facts that I have discovered. Did you know that one in eight
women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their lifetime? Actually, Breast Cancer is the
most common cancer among women worldwide, claiming the lives of hundreds of thousands of
women each year and affecting countries at all levels of modernization. It is the second leading
cause of death among women and it is estimated that each year over 220,000 women in the
United States will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer and of those more than 40,000 will die.
Most people associate breast cancer with women, but 2,150 MEN will be diagnosed with Breast
Cancer and approximately 410 will die each year of Breast Cancer. The best defense for this
disease is offense—early detection and treatment is the key to recovery that will allow most
people to continue a normal life. Look around you—I don‘t know ANYONE that has not been
affected by this disease. I think EVERYONE has either experienced Breast Cancer themselves
or has had a family member or friend that has battled this disease. Please get you mammogram,
do self-examinations, and when in doubt consult your Physician. Take the time to take care of
yourselves!
Now let‘s talk committees! We have numerous committees and I am sure there is one that
would support your hobbies or interests. It is wonderful to enjoy the things the club has to
offer (CRC & CRCLA) but it doesn‘t just happen. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication
and many people working hard behind the scenes. One or two people cannot make these things
happen—please consider volunteering to be a part of one of our committees and help make the
activities happen. It takes very little time on your part and we could sure use the help!
