Thistletown Collegiate Institute (TCI) is a safe and caring school
dedicated to student success. Our longstanding tradition of
academic excellence and rich co-curricular programs make TCI a
very rewarding place of learning. We honour all pathways and
provide great opportunities for all students to prepare for
university, college, apprenticeships and the world of work. In
addition to a very strong core program, we offer our students
terrific opportunities in the Arts, Physical Education, Co-operative
Education and Technology including Specialist High Skills Majors
in Hospitality (Food) and The Arts (Dance, Drama, Music and
Visual Arts). Many of our graduates go on to post-secondary
institutions with prestigious awards and scholarships.
Athletics and TCI
In athletics, many of our teams are
actively involved in competing for
TDSB championships. There are also
great opportunities at Thistletown for
students to play football, hockey,
soccer, volleyball, cricket, badminton,
basketball, softball, baseball, Frisbee,
and track and field as well as a number of other sports and
activities. For recreational athletes, there are various co-curricular
activities open to all students. These, together with our leadership
programs and a vast number of clubs and activities, offer many
amazing opportunities for our students to grow and develop as
individuals.

A Broad Selection of Choices
At TCI, we offer a complete range of academic, business, and
technology programs including E-Learning and Continuous Intake
Co-op. Our literacy initiatives aim at developing interest and skills in
reading and writing and our retention and remediation initiatives
help our students stay in school and be successful.
Math and Science
TCI has a strong Mathematics and Science program dedicated to
student success, including an after school program designed to
support those students who require extra help. Our excellent
teachers are committed to providing students with the skills
required to pursue further studies in all areas of science, advanced
mathematics, engineering and the health and medical fields.
Food and Hospitality
Food and Hospitality at TCI provides our students with opportunities
to learn new and exciting skills in a fully equipped kitchen under the
direction of a highly qualified teacher-chef. Our dual-credit
partnership with Humber College allows students to earn high
school credits and advanced placement college credits at the same
time.
TCI Environmental Club
TCI's Environmental Club is a proud participant of Tech It Away,
which is a partnership between Best Buy and the TDSB to provide
free recycling of unwanted electronics and accessories. This along
with our printer cartridge and battery re-cycling program makes our
students aware of some of the many ways that they can make a
difference in protecting the environment.

What Sets Us Apart
We have a long tradition of academic excellence. Each year,
many of our graduates are accepted into the college or
university of their choice, supported with prizes and
scholarships. Last year, we celebrated 124 graduates.
Nearly three-quarters moved on to university to continue
their education.
Our students have access to supportive and confidential
assistance from a wide range of professionals. These
include attendance counsellors, child and youth workers,

TDSB - Better Schools. Brighter Futures
Imagine a TDSB where all schools share a common core set of characteristics. They are
community-driven and focused on teaching and learning. Students and parents have a wide variety of
opportunities and there are enough students in every school to increase program choices.
Imagine there is a clear focus on achieving student success and every student is engaged, has a voice,
access to a caring adult and the opportunity to develop their full potential.
Here at the TDSB our focus is on student achievement, parent and community engagement and financial
stability.
