Stephen Jackson
round of the NBA Draft
Chris Bosh High School to the Pro’s
Chris Bosh
After a year at Georgia Tech Chris Bosh
was drafted Number 4 in the 2003 NBA
draft in the first round by Toronto. In the
eight years in the NBA he has a career average of 20.0 ppg and 9.2 rbg. The former
Dallas Lincoln standout led his team to the
State 4A Championship in his senior year
by defeating Beaumont Ozen 71-51 which
had won the State title in the previous year.
Ozen was led by another Texas product,
Kendrick Perkins who led his team the
Boston Celtics, to the World Championship in 2009. Glad to be out of Toronto
and recruited by the Miami Heat to become
one of the BIG THREE, a team predicted
to have a lock on winning the World title in
2011. Bosh’s numbers didn’t hardly change
as he averaged 18.7 ppg, and 8.3 rbg for
the Heat. Instrumental in helping his team
all the way to the finals before succumbing
to the Dallas Mavericks for the trophy and
glory of retaining the World Championship.
Probably the only thing that compares to
the frustration of coming up short compares
to his junior year at Lincoln and they faced
San Antonio Lanier in the State Semi-finals,
and the Voks completely frustrated Bosh
who wound up fouling out, after his team
which was projected at meeting Ozen in
the finals for the title, did not materialize. Bosh has got to be proud of all that he has
accomplished as a premier player and outstanding career. Although Miami didn’t win
the title, learning from this past year, what
is needed to win it all, will certainly affect
how they strive to meet this years expectations. You might say the pressure is off, but
it will be fun to watch who comes out on
top in 2012!

All-Star games celebrate the
outstanding achievements that the
players and coaches have accomplished. Respected by their peers

unblemished 14-0 district ledger to earn them another play off berth,
and then made another great run to get back to Austin in 2011. The
Maroon & White ran back to State by taking the Region II Championship with victories over Fort Davis 76-38, Sterling City 35-22,
#16 Throckmorton 53-32, and #2 Ira 50-33. In the State semis
they took out Roxton 80-60, but didn’t have quite enough to finish
off #20 Paducah as they lost 45-30 to end another great year. Coach
Rocky Rawls lost heavy to graduation, but is pleased to have back
no less than five lettermen with one of those having starting experience. The experienced and tradition heavy Longhorns look to make
2012 another banner year as they look to keep the district title and
return to the post-season!
