Visitors can avail themselves of wealth of relaxing holiday activities, as well as the restaurants,shops and nightlife. In recent years lovely modern apartments as well as some of the island's best hotels have sprouted all over Sliema. All teachers are in possession of a TEFL Cert Certificate and a TELT qualification. Others have CELTA , BA English or TESOL OUR STUDENTS Where do your students come from? The top five destinations are Russia,Germany,Italy,Spain and Brazil. Last year we had students from over 50 nationalities How many students do you have during high and low seasons? 20 What is the minimum and average age of your students? The minimum is 4 years and the average age in the adults school is 30 years. Maximum is 10 and average is 8 What levels are offered and how fast does a student progress from level to level? There are 6 levels and it takes a minimum of 4 weeks to progress (depending on the student) Are textbooks included in the fees? Students are charged 20euro for course material Do you receive a free certificate once the course has ended? Yes Can I switch my course type/length once I have started it, or decide to add an additional course? Yes (there is a 20euro processing fee for changing courses. This does not apply when students wants to increase the number of sessions) and as long as the difference in price is being payed. Do you offer work experience? You will be met by one of our representatives holding a welcome pack with your name on it and he will be waiting as soon as you exit into the arrival lounge What alternative transport is there from the airport to the City or my host family accommodation? Public Transport PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM Bus System There is a very good bus system that covers all the island and we have a bus stop a bit further down from our school Other Travel Options Taxi, Ferry boat, rented car PAYMENTS/ CANCELLATIONS/ REFUNDS Can I receive an invoice? Yes What are your payment terms and conditions? If the accommodation is booked a 50% deposit need to be paid, if only the course is booked you need to pay 60euros. Full payment needs to be payed to the school before commencement of the course. How do I cancel a course and will I get a refund for the course and/or the accommodation? Cancellation between 15 and 7 days from commencement 30% of all services ordered © Language Studies International 2015 Page 6 of 9 FAQs LSI Sliema cancellation between 6 and 4 days from commencement 50% of all services ordered cancellation between 3 and 1 day from commencement 75% of all services ordered cancellation on commencement day or later (or no show) 100% of all services ordered. How do I pay for my course? Bank transfer,credit card or cash ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS Can I take a holiday during my course? If you are an EU citizen (without Visa) you can take holidays in weeks as long as the school is informed Do I need a visa to study at your school? foreign.gov.mt How much spending money should I bring? Low Budget - 5 to 10 euro a day, Higher budget 20 to 25 per day. It also depends if the client is booked half or full board Can I open a bank account? EU members can open a bank account , Non EU countries will need a letter from the school,stating that they are attending a course at school,with which they will be able to open an account at Bank of Valletta(BOV) Who can I talk to if I have a problem? Our office remains open all day to assist students with whatever problems they may have, We have a full time Accomodation office, leisure office, Welfare office and we also have a 24hrs emergency phone number.Can I speak my own language? We have reps fluent in most languages including, Japanese,Russian,German,Italian,Spanish etc etc What happens if I get sick? The school will make up the sessions missed, if the students advises us that she/he is sick. We might also ask for a doctor's certificate. Can I get a job while I am studying at the School? Insurance has to be purchased in country of origin. Can I arrange work experience through the School? Yes SLIEMA FACILITIES What facilities are available to students? Free WI-FI, Library , study facilities, computer lab How many classrooms are there? 30 classrooms Do you have a cafeteria? No, but we have vending coffee and snacks machine in the school and the school is located near the Sliema Wanderers cafeteria, with whom we have a deal to give our students a 10% discount. WHAT MAKES THE SCHOOL SO SUCCESSFUL Interactive Classroom Techniques The school boasts a language lab and free wi-fi, together with an internet café that can be used by all students Well Established The school has been established since 1988 and is one of the first to set up shop in Malta Value for Money Courses are competitively priced and a number of discounts are given throughout the year Like A Family Since the school is considered to be small by today's standards it is easy for our staff to maintaine an intimate atmosphere The students are refred to by their first name and not reated as a number. International Atmosphere Last year the school received students from over 50 countries. Excellent Location As already mentioned, you cannot get a more central school than ours. We are bang in the middle of Sliema's busy shopping and resturant area, facing Valletta, our capital City and 30min away from St Julian's which is considered to be Malta's Ibiza Careful Assessment The student is given a placement test on arrival. This covers most skills, including a personal interview to determine your exect level.
