Under the leadership of former CEO, James Lapsley, LMG has grown from its initial thirteen pods into the largest physician owned multi-specialty medical group in Northern Virginia. LMG currently spans a geographic area of some 65 miles from Berryville to Alexandria, Virginia and employs nearly 700 employees. In the year 2010, LMG had 44 distinct pods in 60 separate locations with 102 physicians and 74 mid-levels providing care to over half a million patients. As we reflect on the past 10 years, LMG has succeeded because of the collective strength of providers and employee dedication, knowledge and medical expertise. It has truly been an “evolution to excellence”. From the Katrina project to work with the Loudoun Free Clinic and various unsung contributions by our providers, LMG has contributed time and resources when local and national healthcare needs arose. We are, however, at a turning point in American health care. Health care costs will inevitably grow, but our nation cannot afford for costs to grow at their current rate. As health care professionals, LMG’s mission is to provide the highest possible quality care to our patients. The underlying challenge to that mission and the unavoidable reality of our world today is how to maintain continued growth, profitability and cash flow and fulfill our mission in an era of general economic downturn, rising health care costs, and uncertainties associated with national health care reform. As the largest multi-specialty medical group in the area, we believe LMG is uniquely positioned to embrace the above challenges. And although we recognize this will not be an easy task, we are confident that LMG has both the leadership and resources to continue our evolution to excellence. Our plans for the coming year include developing a strategic plan encompassing health care reform and to grow LMG – both in primary care as well as in specialty practices. The implementation of the new PULSE electronic health record in the fall of 2011 will allow LMG to participate in the government “meaningful use” program – thereby improving efficiency and patient care coordination. This will then also enable LMG to qualify for government financial incentives as well as develop a comprehensive quality assurance program. Other initiatives to be undertaken in 2011 include ensuring LMG is properly capitalized; that we continue to receive top reimbursement rates from managed care companies and that we develop new ancillary revenue services within LMG. We are excited about the coming year and encourage shareholder participation in LMG’s evolution process. The LMG annual report is not to be distributed without permission from the LMG Board of Directors. Infinite Possibilities. Our strength is our employees 664 198 2000 2010 Loudoun Medical Group, PC 9 Dr. Michele Reilly founded Ashburn Pediatrics in 1994, along with Drs. Theresa Crowley and Lewis Gold, who soon joined her in practice. The practice has grown steadily over the years and had the pleasure of treating 9,500 patients in 2010 in a warm and loving environment. The founding partners were pleased to welcome Drs. Amie Beloy, Maura Carroll, and Victoria Pierce as pod partners in 2009. Dr. Gold retired from practice in December 2010. Ashburn Pediatrics provides primary pediatric care to infants, children and adolescents from newborns to college age students. Their message is to provide quality pediatric care to meet the variable needs of the community. Ashburn Pediatrics providers pride themselves on being partners with parents to provide the knowledge needed to make sound medical, physical, and emotional decisions for their children. Their primary interest is to ensure healthy children with a healthy future. Dr. Michele Reilly has served as chairperson of Loudoun Medical Group’s Human Resources Committee since June 2000 and was a BOD member for the years 2000 - 2002. Dr. Linda Coleman, a Board-Certified Internist, has been practicing in Loudoun County for over 15 years. Her practice has grown to include two employed physicians and two mid-level providers. Interestingly, Dr. Coleman’s father, Dr. John Coleman, practices part-time in the practice at the age of 82. His goal is to be the oldest practicing Board-Certified Family Physician in the United States. A few years ago, Dr. Linda Coleman expanded her practice to include aesthetic and hormone services in addition to the stellar episodic and preventive care already offered by her practice. Dr. Coleman and her team of both Internal Medicine & Family Medicine specialists are especially skilled in the management of patients who have multi-system disease processes. Dr. Coleman’s office is located in the Countryside area of Sterling. The office suite was recently expanded in conjunction with a large remodeling project. The remodeled suite features hardwood floors, frosted glass, and granite countertops throughout the suite. Dr. Linda Coleman has served on the Managed Care Committee since 2000. 10 G. Neil Foster, M.D. Dr. Gavin Neil Foster specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has been practicing since 1989 and is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is in solo practice, and his office is located at the Inova Loudoun Hospital campus – directly across from The Birthing Inn. Under the leadership of its Medical Director, Dr. Carol Currier, Corporate Health Center (CHC) has served as one of the major Occupational Health Medicine and Workers Compensation centers in the metropolitan Washington area since 1987. In addition to occupational medicine, CHC offers opiate addiction counseling and rehabilitation services, with 87 active participants at this time. Dr. Currier is a Travel Medicine & Immigration Certified Provider, a great benefit to corporations with international projects. CHC holds contracts with many large employers in the area, including Loudoun County Transportation Department, Orbital Sciences, NiTek, Dulles Transit Partners (the company that is overseeing the Dulles Metrorail project), and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA). For the first part of her career, Dr. Currier was an Ophthalmologist. She worked in MedEx Urgent Care in Sterling during the 1980’s and 1990’s before solely focusing in Occupational Medicine. Dr. Currier is currently Board Certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Foster has performed over 3,000 deliveries during his time with LMG and has served Loudoun County since 1994. Upon entering Dr. Foster’s office, one can easily become enamored with the walls of his suite, which are covered with picture of babies delivered by Dr. Foster over the years, as well as pictures of these children as they have grown up. Empowerment is a theme throughout the practice. Dr. Foster and his staff believe that women should be empowered by participating fully in their health care decisions. He and his staff are well-trained, kind, and caring. They care equally about each other as well as all of the patients they serve. The unhurried atmosphere lends itself to making patients feel comfortable and confident, whether they are considering delivery of their babies or one of many other services available. Dr. Foster has been an active member of the LMG Finance Committee since June of 2000 and is the current Chairman of the Governance Committee. He has also served on the LMG Board of Directors for 9 years. Dr. Currier served on the LMG Board of Directors from 2005 to 2006 and is an active member of the Quality Assurance Committee. 11 Virginia Hackenberg, M.D. Loudoun Gynecology Associates Dr. Hackenberg has served the Loudoun Community for over 20 years and currently practices in Lansdowne. She is Board-Certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and her focus is the gynecological aspect of care delivery. As a matter of fact, Dr. Hackenberg was the first female gynecology-only specialist in Loudoun County in 1990. When describing her care philosophy, Dr. Hackenberg states, “My approach towards a physician-patient relationship involves giving the patient time to ask questions and express concerns as well as educating them about their condition and treatment options so they can make informed choices about their own health care.” Dr. Hackenberg maintains regular hours for both office appointments and surgical procedures and works collaboratively in the office with the Loudoun Community Midwives. Leesburg Sterling Family Practice (LSFP) was founded by Dr. Stephen Napolitano in 1974. Offering a full spectrum of diagnostic and treatment procedures for maintaining wellness, treating illness and injuries, and dealing with acute needs, LSFP practitioners help patients stay healthy with individualized care plans. In addition, their patient population spans from infants to the elderly and all ages between. LSFP operates offices in Lansdowne, Leesburg, and Purcellville and includes 12 physicians and 9 nurse practitioners. A fourth location will open in Summer 2011 in the Broadlands Marketplace Shopping Center in Ashburn. LSFP Purcellville was recently voted the best place to work in Western Loudoun in a poll run by Purcellville Gazette. Dr. Stephen Napolitano has been a member of the LMG Board of Directors, for which he currently serves as Vice-Chair, and the Finance Committee since LMG’s inception. Dr. Tony Crowley chairs the Real Estate Committee and is an active member of the LMG HR Committee. Another LSFP physician who donates time to LMG activities is Dr. T.J. Hegerich, who chairs the IT Committee and has been instrumental in the implementation of LMG’s EHR systems. As chairperson of the Managed Care Committee, Dr. Virginia Hackenberg has contributed to LMG’s success in receiving preferred rates from payors. In addition, Dr. Hackenberg served as a member of the LMG Board of Directors for 6 years. 12 Dr. Sarah Fletcher and her team at Sterling Family Practice operate out of their office in the Cascades area of Sterling. Dr. Fletcher founded Sterling Family Practice over 15 years ago and currently employs two physicians, Drs. Ralph Leon and Elizabeth Zapp, and two Nurse Practitioners, Cynthia Yew and Jessica Scalzo. Dr. Fletcher maintains a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme Disease and is truly a Lyme Disease expert. She routinely sees over 30 Lyme patients each week. Sterling Family Practice has embraced technology and uses the Medfusion Patient Portal as a complement to the electronic health record (EHR). The Medfusion Patient Portal allows patients to access their own secure and confidential online personal health record from home. Patients have the ability through Medfusion to request appointments, receive test results online, and send and receive secure messages to and from the office. Dr. Fletcher served on the Board of Directors from 2003 to 2005 and is currently an active member of the IT and Real Estate Committees. Loudoun Dermatology Associates (LDA) was established in 1998 by Drs. Roberta Moreland and Van Ha. The practice, located in Lansdowne, is dedicated to delivering the best in dermatological treatments and the highest quality of patient care. In addition to medical care and prevention, LDA physicians also perform cosmetic services – Botox, Dysport, and Juvederm (Cosmetic Fillers) – as well as IPL (Intensed Pulse Light) treatment. LDA offers X-Trac Laser treatments for psoriasis patients. Microdermabrasion, chemical peel treatments, and laser hair removal are performed by LDA’s aesthetician, Tiffany Bogaty. Many of LDA's employees have at least 7 years of service or more with the practice. LDA employees celebrate with an annual “fun day” in the fall as well as a Christmas dinner. The physicians and staff have shown their support for Loudoun residents by volunteering at the annual Skin Cancer Screening in conjunction with Inova Loudoun Hospital. LDA also dedicates time to the community by providing care to patients referred by the Loudoun Free Clinic. Dr. Moreland has been an active member of the Finance Committee since 2000 and served on the LMG BOD from 2000 - 2002. 13 Loudoun Internal Medicine Associates Loudoun Internal Medicine Associates (LIMA) formed when Dr. John Andrew joined Dr. Jack Cook in Leesburg in 1986. The practice moved to the current flagship location in Lansdowne in 1997 and has been growing since that point. The Purcellville location opened in 2009. Drs. Cook and Andrew branched out and formed the MDVIP division of LIMA in 2008. The current owners of LIMA are Drs. Geetha Pillai, Richard Kim, and Neven Ujevic. LIMA was an early supporter of Nurse Practitioners in Internal Medicine and currently acts as a training site for local programs. LIMA’s Nurse Practitioners, Kathleen Pelkofski and Robin Woyach, received part of their training at the practice. Amy Emery, NP, also joined the group in 2009. Both Drs. Geetha Pillai and Richard Kim are current LMG Board of Directors members. In addition, Dr. Kim is the Chairman of the Ancillary Services Committee, which is currently reviewing centralized laboratory services and point of care prescription dispensing. Drs. Pillai and Ujevic are both members of the LMG New Pod Committee. As a member of the LMG Retirement Committee, Dr. Neven Ujevic serves as a Plan Fiduciary for LMG’s retirement plan. He is also an active member of the HR Committee. Loudoun Pediatric Associates (LPA) has served Loudoun County children and their parents for over 30 years. The practice offers preventive care and same-day sick care for ages newborn through 18. Over the past few years, the providers at LPA have focused heavily on education and prevention, employing Registered Dietitian, as well as several Certified Lactation Consultants who are also Nurse Practitioners. The owners of LPA are Dr. Rebecca Fox and Dr. Corinna Schrankel, who recently welcomed Dr. Joel Madrid and Dr. Max Lins as pod partners in January 2011. The practice sees approximately 40,000 office visits each year in 15,000 total square feet of office space throughout their Lansdowne, Purcellville, and Berryville offices. LPA was the first LMG practice to venture westward into Clarke County with the expansion to Berryville in September 2010. In addition to the four owners, the practice employs four physicians, Dr. Nicole Connolly, Dr. Anya Roychoudhury, Dr. Keriya Adem, and Dr. Lisa Scott; four Nurse Practitioners, Sharon Corriveau, Tammy Cayou, Marion Shortman, and Lauren Bland; and one Physician Assistant, Suzanne Dahl. Dr. Rebecca Fox is active on the LMG IT and Real Estate Committees. Additionally, Dr. Corinna Schrankel served on the LMG Board of Directors from 2007 – 2009 and is a member of the LMG Quality Assurance Committee. 14 Potomac Family Practice (PFP) was founded in 1994 by Drs. Valerie Williamson and NhuNga (Nikki) Truong. Dr. Joseph Lee later joined them in practice and is a partner. Loudoun County did not boast numerous primary care practices in the early 1990s, so the Loudoun community welcomed PFP, with convenient locations and a diverse staff, as a haven for new patients in growing areas of the county. PFP is committed to improving overall health for their patients and their families by providing excellent care. The physician owners, along with Physician Assistant, Whitney Crawford, and staff members understand the importance of patient education, patient participation, and patient care – from infants to elderly individuals.
