AudimuteSoundproofing.com 866 - 505 - MUTE TYPE OF TREATMENT NEEDED ABSORPTION: YES Sound absorption takes care of many sound issues at the source. Audimute’s Acoustic Panels achieve results by absorbing mid and highfrequency sounds before they can scatter and distort around rooms. ISOLATION: NO Sound isolation addresses sound issues that bother people outside of the room in question. Isolation treatments either add mass to walls, or work as a constrained layer to transform sound. Either way, isolation (or “barrier”) materials prevent sound from passing between neighboring areas. • Capture sound as close to source as possible. • Focus absorption on walls behind and opposite of where the sound is being produced. • Consider installing “cloud” absorption overhead. • Seal any door gaps to prevent outside noise from getting in the room. We Recommend: 2” Thick Acoustic Panels or eco-C-tex™ Acoustic Material Why? Acoustic panels control sound reflections within the studio improve sound clarity and quality - both high priorities for broadcasting studios. eco-C-tex™ Acoustic Material is a more affordable option if aesthetics are not a concern, and it performs equally as well as fabric covered acoustic panels. A) TIPS FOR ISOLATION Light Absorption — (5% - 25% coverage) For live recording or listening rooms, offices, conference rooms and rooms where people gather and converse. Moderate Absorption — (25% - 50% coverage) Suits listening and control rooms that typically feature more subdued music, as well as larger business spaces. Vocal booths and recording isolation booths require the most absorption. • Look for areas that sound may be escaping your space. Vents, ductwork, and loose-fitting doors are common culprits. • Use thicker, less compressed material to reduce impact or vibrational noise. Thinner, denser material works best for sound isolation. • “Seal” your room: make an effort to cover every surface with your chosen sound isolation material to prevent sound from escaping or entering. (Anti-vibrational material, on the other hand, need to be applied only in problem areas.) They always need to be exposed to the source of the sound problem in order to work. In most applications, they work best positioned evenly around the space you are treating, with exposed wall between. Place them at a height where sound is likely to hit the wall. INSTALLING ISOLATION Isolation materials need to be installed between wall layers. If your room is a new construction, isolation material can be attached directly to the wall or floor studs. If you room is already finished, you may add isolation material to the existing wall and then install an additional layer of drywall over it. The more mass, the better! 6. NEED SOME HELP?
