June 2011 - Cloverdale
Chamber Moves into New Building It is with much sadness and with much excitement that we at the Chamber move into a smaller, more manageable space at 126 N. Cloverdale Blvd. After the dissolution of the North Coast Wine and Visitors Center several years ago, the Chamber stepped in and with financial assistance from the City of Cloverdale, was able to continue the operation of the Visitors Center. However, the downturn in the economy and the precarious state of redevelopment agencies in California, has affected the amount of funding the Chamber can continue to expect to receive from the City, making it necessary for us significantly cut our overhead expenses. Late last year, the Chamber Board decided to advertise the Wine and Visitors Center building for lease/share, with the idea of relocating the Chamber functions to a smaller area in the building. We had not considered the idea of selling the building, until interest in purchasing was generated from a local winery. Ted and Deanna Starr from Milano Winery have purchased 105 N. Cloverdale Blvd. and will be opening a tasting room facing onto the Boulevard, and will be moving their winery software company VinNow into the rear space. This move will be a benefit to the revitalization of the downtown, offering an attraction for locals and tourists alike, as well as providing a number of jobs. The Chamber will continue to operate as the voice for the business community in Cloverdale, as well as offering information about local businesses, events and attractions, we will continue to stock information about Sonoma and Mendocino Counties, local wineries, lodging and destinations. The office is currently open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00pm, and closed on weekends. The phone is 894-4470. This transition has been eased by a number of very important people, to whom I am very grateful; Thank you to the Chamber Board of Directors who spent so much time in meetings and negotiations, acting always in the best interests of the membership and the community. Thank you to Marshall Kelly, from Keegan and Coppin Realtors who represented the Chamber in the sale, and to Ron Pavelka who handled the lease on our new offices. Thank you also to Norv and Grace Dilley our new land lords who painted and carpeted our space so beautifully! And a very special thank you to Vickie Hegarty, Maya Mayfield, Mike Nixon, Nathan Rotlisberger, Kevin Hegarty and Charlie Hegarty who muscled-up and moved us into our new digs! Stop by and see us! June 2011 In the Pipeline Wow! There is so much going on in Cloverdale, it almost makes my head spin!
