SCHOOL CLOSED ON JULY 5TH DUE TO TEACHERS STRIKE
Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
Thank you to all the parents who could attend our ‘Bring your Parent to School Day’,
it was a massive success. Please go on our website to find the PowerPoint and resources that Mrs Rowland and Mrs Thomas put together.
I think we have all learnt a lot this week about how vulnerable our children can be
when it comes to the internet and other electronical
devices. This is why it is so important we educate our
children on E-safety. It is a different world out there
and at the end of the day, we have to learn to live in it
safely. This means we need to continue communicating
with our children and monitoring their electronic devices because as we learned it isn't just the computer,
it is their phones as well!
The PTA need helpers for
before, during and after
the Summer Fair (8th
July).
Donations for the Tombola
(to be given to Ms Singh,
Ms Rai or Mr McCarthy).

ICT and E-Safety Week
This week at Rangefield, we have had a fantastic week filled with ICT and learning all
about e-safety. The children have been learning a song to help them remember how
to stay safe, and on Wednesday, the parents were invited into class to participate in
the learning, as well as taking part in a workshop. The children, as well as parents,
had a great time in the e-safety lessons and gained lots of new information about how
to stay safe!
Here is what the children had to say:
“I was so proud to show my mum how well I was doing.” Mo, Year 2
Mum loved that I was learning about e-safety at school.” Mya, Year 2
“I had fun because our parents learnt something new” - Caleb, Year 6
“Some octopuses and sharks are not nice and you don’t talk to them!” - Imran, YR 1
“I liked meeting Hector and telling the crab not to send personal details.” Omari, YR1
“I learned a lot about e-safety, I know not to talk to people I don’t know and
to not give them my personal information.” Alicia, Year 2
“I felt it was a good experience because not only do we learn, the adults do too”Maggie, Year 6
Here’s what the parents had to say:

Mums, Dads & Carers
Welcome
Last Wednesday 22nd June was a very exciting day for some of the year 5 children
and staff. Children were dismissed from school at the normal time of 3.30 BUT then
came back to school at 5.15 to attend their evening theatre showing of The Lion
King showing in the Lyceum theatre in the West End. The show was absolutely amazing and everyone who
attended had a wonderful evening. Well done children for representing yourselves and the school so well in busy
London. Thank you to all of the adults who volunteered in their spare time to accompany the children.
Here is what the children had to say:
Levi: It was amazing and I loved the effects! My favourite part was getting to eat our snacks in the theatre.
Kyan: I'd give the Lion King 5 stars out of 5!
Bailey: The Lion King was wicked! I loved the part where
Mufasa falls off the cliff because the lights changed colour
and it was dramatic.
Jordan: It was really good and I'd give it ten out of ten. I
loved the hyenas because they were really funny actors.
Caitlin: The Lion King was funny and daring. I enjoyed
when Timon was in danger and fell over a waterfall and the
crocodiles were chasing him
Tyreece: During the performance said: I'm loving this!
Andrew: I can't wait to see Pumba
This week our reception classes had a fantastic day, visiting the animals and attractions at Godstone Farm. The children
were able to interact with a whole range of animals including chickens, rabbits and ponies, as well as learning about their
needs and habits. We also got to walk the Dinosaur walk, look for huge dinosaurs in amongst the plants and listen to
their noises and calls! There were huge dinosaur fossils to find in the sand and interesting facts to read about. We sat
in the courtyard and ate our lovely packed lunches together and at
the end of the day we all got to play on the indoor
adventure playground which was really exciting.
Thank you so much to all of you who came to support our
annual sports day last Friday.
This was a wonderful event and I think it fair to say that the
children did us all proud.
Their competitive spirit coupled with sportsmanlike conduct
throughout was a pleasure to see. Thank you also to all those parents who got involved in their races.
The children love to see us all having fun together and it all contributed to the wonderful family atmosphere!

The New Boy
w

Amy noticed the ‘new boy’ Donovan
Grant straight away: secretive, brooding and
good looking. When Donovan befriends her
she is both delighted and intrigued by the
‘new boy’, but is he all that he seems…
Soon after Donovan’s arrival there are
thefts in the classroom, fights, fall-outs and
disruption. When Amy is forced to choose
between right and wrong her loyalty to Donovan is tested...
I whole-heartedly recommend The
New Boy for children aged 8 years
and over, as it’s one of my favourites that I remember reading when
I was at school.
