Because we won't be holding a timed-race this year, we are encouraging our suppo to continue the Rock & Stroll tradition by gathering with family and friends to run, wa rock or stroll during the month of September during the "Virtual Rock & Stroll." With $25 registration fee, you will be entered into a weekly raffle for prizes like gift cards Athletic Feat, bicycle tune-ups, gym memberships and so much more! You will also receive one ticket to our annual Donor and Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, Friday September 27, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at the Napa General Store riverfront terrac As a runner, walker, ROCKER or STROLLER, your registration fees and donations a significant difference in the fight against child abuse and neglect in our community While we have accomplished a lot in our 41 year history, we still have a lot of work t Research shows that poverty is the strongest indicator for poor educational achievement and puts children at the highest risk of abuse and neglect This summer has been kind to the Cope Community Garden! We have harvested zucchini, tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers, onions and peppers! With the guidance from the UC Master Gardeners of Napa County and compost 1/3 of Napa families live below the poverty line In 2012, there were 1,364 cases (more than THREE a day) of child abuse/ne referred to Child Protective Services in Napa County, an increase of 21% ove past year. of Napa County and compost donated from Napa Recycling and Waste Services, the Cope garden has become a true community project we are proud to share. Join us from our next Garden Day on October 1 at 3pm. Master Gardeners Mary Hudson and Cheryl Toivola will be joining us to help wrap up our summer garden and prepare for Fall. Child abuse/neglect leads to obesity, mental health issues and substance abuse--three of the top four health needs cited for Napa County. Investing in our community's children cultivates the citizens of tomorrow. Upcoming Events Cope Family Center's Woman2Woman committee exists to create and implement strategies to educate and engage community women as volunteers, fund-raisers and ambassadors for Cope Family Center. This October, the W2W Education Ambassadors will be hosting an evening, informational event, Enough is Enough: Kindergarten is too late. Presentation and discussion topics will include Early Childhood Development and the impact of adverse experiences on children and the community at large. Check back for more details! Woman2Woman has had a Holiday Glam & Giving Cope Family Center's Woman2Woman Committee presents th 2nd Annual Holiday Glam & Giving benefit fashion show, auct and luncheon on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 11am to 2:30pm at The Mertiage Resort and Spa in Napa. The event feature live music, a professional fashion show, a gourmet luncheon, live and silent auctions and custom-designed trees wreaths for raffle.We invite guests to shop for exclusive holida gifts while directly supporting local child abuse prevention effo Tables for this event seat 10 people and can be purchased for $700, or $70 per individual ticket. Community Circle Member of the Month- KVON/KVYN 1440 KVON has been the "Voice of Napa Valley" since 1947. Reporting on local new and events, KVON has been a vital part of the Napa Valley community. Part of KVO rich history is host, Ira C. Smith, who has now been calling high school football gam Woman2Woman has had a great impact on the Napa community, but there is still so much to do! In addition to KVON, Napans have also enjoyed the music on 99.3 The Vi (KVYN) for over 30 years! The Vine now plays a mix of today's pop, with country crossover and some Classic Rock thrown in. You may know it better as "Sauvignon Rock." Both stations are committed to serving Napa Valley and donate much of their airtime supporting local non-profit organizations. 99.3 The Vine and 1440 KVON have long supported Cope Family Center. Over the years, the stations have highlighted annua events such as Kids' Day, the Blue Ribbon Luncheon and the ever-popular Napa Ri Rock & Stroll. As a community radio station, they believe "it's not only a priviledge, b vital to bring awareness to the important services Cope has provided for children an families."
