PARTY FLOOR
NAME THAT BEER!
Deadlines: Space reservation—09/26/15, artwork—10/1/15
Thinking about having a party at
MileHiCon this year? Well, think no
more, the decision is YES. And what
makes a party great? It’s the people.
One way to get a lot of people at your
party is to have lots of people in the
area. MileHiCon wants to keep all the
parties together on one floor. Having
all the parties on one floor make it like
having one monster party. If you are
interested, contact us at
Info@milehicon.org. Let us know
you will be having a party and want to
be on the party floor. You will still have
to make your room reservations
through the hotel, but tell them that you
want to be on the MileHiCon party floor.
We will make sure that you get placed
in the party wing.
Calling all artists and beer lovers.
MileHiCon 47 will include a home brew

Local award-winning fan brewers will create a special
beer for this event. It is an approximately 5% ABV
Belgian Witbier brewed with coriander, bitter orange,
rose hips, lavender, and hibiscus, with a pale rose gold
color, mildly tart and low in bitterness with a creamy
mouthfeel.
You are invited to submit your best beer name and
artwork for a label for this beer. GOH Ursula Vernon will
be picking her favorite, and a social media vote will be
held to determine a fan favorite. Winners will receive a
metal plaque with their label design suitable for
hanging, and be first in line to try the beer at the tasting.
Bonus points given for creativity, amusing puns, and
references to SF&F literature and media.
BLIND SUBMISSION:
A Live ‘Slush’ Pile
Want some immediate feedback on how several
editors react to your work? Here’s your chance.
For this program, there will be a panel of editors
as well as a designated reader. The reader will
begin reading a submitted piece. If, during the
reading, three editors on the panel raise their
hand to signal they would stop at this point and
reject the manuscript, the reader will stop and the
editors explain what would make them reject the
piece. The editors who didn't raise their hands
can explain why they were willing to keep reading. If the reader reaches the end of the submission without three editors rejecting it, the panel
will talk about what they liked (or disliked), and
the author is given a chance to stand and be
recognized and celebrated by the room.
If you would like to submit your work for the panel, send the first page of your unpublished short
story or novel (about 250 words) as a

MAD SCIENTISTS AND
ROBOT FANATICS!!
Are you ready for fun, excitement
and destruction?
What is the Critter Crunch?
It’s a long tradition of the Denver Area Mad
Scientists Club. It’s a competition invented by and
for mad scientists, inventors and eccentric
mechanics and engineers that has spread
throughout the land. Competitors pit their Critters
against each other. Critters are home-made mobile
robots of various sizes and complexity. They
grapple and grind in a competitive mesh of gears,
wheels and weaponry. The one left standing wins!
Check out the rules on the MileHiCon website
(www.milehicon.org), then get to work designing
your Critter. You don’t have much time. Do one on
your own, or persuade your friends to help. Then
register early for the competition. Here’s all you
