Thank you. LookingtotheFuture,CelebratingthePast This year we celebrate our 20-year anniversary for Franciscans for the Poor ministry. Sr. Marie Clement Edrich set us on this wonderful journey after having attending a conference that centered around volunteer start-up programs. Originally, much of the work From le to right: (seated) Sr. Marie Clement was done in conjunction with St. Edrich and Sr. Karen Hartman; Chris Lemmon John’s, downtown Cincinnati with and Marci Peebles. Afterward, Sr. Karen Hartman took over and gave the program its wings and its current home at the Tau House (in St. Bernard) — complete with beds! Continuing the mission, Dan Nolan, a former Franciscan friar expanded the outlets for volunteer opportunities. Chris Lemmon continued the journey by doing a lot of updating to Tau House including the setting up of systems to run the program. Current director, Marci Peebles has enhanced Franciscans for the Poor by adding mini-trip, service days and retreat hosting as well as a pen pal program between our Franciscan Sisters of the Poor and participants. Last year, 766 people connected with Franciscans for the Poor, and participants clocked a total of 10,842 hours of service at 25 different sites! Today we celebrate the seeds that were planted 20 years ago and look to continue opportunities to grow into the future! Want to learn more? Please visit: http://franforthepoor.org/.
