Fe b r u a r y 2 0 1 6 N ew s l e t t e r Dear Residents, Families, and Staff, Each year about this time, I like to remind everyone about our Resident Trust Fund. Everyone likes having a little cash on-hand for unexpected expenses or when shopping opportunities arise. However, we do not live in a single-family private home, but in a community setting with other residents and where staff, family members, and visitors come into KDH on a daily basis. Having money in your room is neither the safest nor most secure method of keeping cash on-hand and we do not recommend it. Instead, we encourage you to put your money in the Resident Trust Fund. The Resident Trust Fund is kept in our safe in the front office and you can have up to $200.00 in your account. For your convenience, your money is available during normal business hours. All money is monitored and managed according to applicable state regulations and you are issued a quarterly statement showing all deposits and withdrawals. It is a safe and secure way to keep your money accessible to you. We generally don’t have a problem with lost or missing items or money, but we also don’t want to invite trouble or problems. Please ask Kelly Wejrowski in the front office about placing money in the Resident Trust Fund and she will be happy to answer all your questions. Thank you! Sincerely, Mark Eubank Administrator The following Dementia Training Classes are available free of cost to everyone. *Reservations are required: Call: Bonnie Fritz, LPN @ 892-6644 *All Classes are held at Golden Horizons 1001 Marsac Bay City, MI FEBRUARY 2016 “Overview of Alzheimer’s & other Dementia” Tuesday, Feb. 9th from 9:30am-Noon Or Wednesday, Feb. 10th from 6:30 pm-9:00 MARCH 2016 “Communicating Effectively” Tuesday, March 1st from 9:30 am-Noon Or Thursday, March 3rd from 6:30 pm-9:00 APRIL 2016 “Managing Difficult Behaviors” Wednesday, April 20th from 9:30 am– Noon Or Thursday, April 21st from 6:30 pm-9:00 pm *Certificate of completion given to paid caregivers *Complimentary Adult Day Care available for morning sessions. With the holidays over we begin to eagerly await spring. Hopefully Mother Nature is good to us and spring comes early!! Though we cannot complain too much as this winter has been fairly mild so far! We will be holding our yearly Tb testing clinic for all KDH residents this month. All residents in assisted living and NCC will be tested on February 1 st. This is done to ensure KDH residents remain healthy and illness free as well as being compliant with the regulatory process. The nursing staff will begin gathering residents for the testing in the morning and it should not take long to complete. A nurse will then make a visit to you on Wednesday the 3rd to check the testing results. If you or your family member have any questions or concerns regarding testing or why it is necessary, please see myself or any of the King’s Daughter’s nursing staff. Podiatry will be visiting the facility Thursday February 4th. Audiology will also be here this month on Monday the 15th. If you are interested in being seen by either of these services please see your nurse so she can ensure that you are on the list of patients needing a visit. Wishing a Happy Valentine’s Day to all of our wonderful residents, family members and staff!!!!
