It is an opportunity to recognize, thank and commission all those countless men and women who give so much of themselves to educate our children in the ways of faith. It is no easy task in our present world to make God matter to young people who are being bombarded daily by secular anti-God, anti-faith, anti-church messages. I would like to offer a personal word of thanks to all who generously exercise this ministry in our parish, both in our Religious Education Program and in Holy Spirit School. While today is set aside to honor in a special way all those who minister in the formal classroom setting, it is also a powerful reminder that each of us, young and old, rich and poor, great and small all share in the Ministry of Education. Christ calls each one of us to be catechists; to be someone who hands on faith to those who are coming after us and to those around us. We are all called, by name, to go into the vineyard and put in a full days work witnessing to the value of the Gospel in our lives. Today, let us each re-commit ourselves to being the very best of teacher-one who lives our faith in everything we do and everything we say. Fr. Armand The Bereavement Ministry of Holy Spirit Church located at 971 Suburban Rd., Union, NJ, announces the start of its support group sessions to help you cope with the loss of your loved one. It consists of eight (8) consecutive Wednesdays starting on September 30 at 7:30 pm. It will be held at Drexler Hall. If you wish to participate or need additional information, please call the parish office at (908) 687-3327. God bless you. TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Page 3 Holy Spirit School Where All God’s Children Come Together www.holyspiritunion.org News Flash… Some exciting improvements have taken place at school this summer. The new Barbara Prescott Library has been remodeled on the lower floor of the school building. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our family members, Mrs. Bockskopf, Mrs. Miuccio, Mrs. Holroyd, Mrs. Moreira, Mr. Jose and a few of our eighth grade students, the transition was seamless and our library program at Holy Spirit will continue to instill the same love of reading within our students as it always has. Our sincere appreciation goes to those mentioned above who made this improvement possible. The new Multi-Media Center is well under way! In just a few short weeks, Holy Spirit will be equipped with a newly upgraded media/research center. Relocated to the top floor of the main building, the new center will be furnished with collaborative-style activity tables, 11 desktop computers, 18 laptops, 3 laser printers and an interactive SMART Board. It will also contain a mobile charging station with 30 Ipads and two learning center tables for cooperative lesson activities. This resource will contribute wonderfully to the students’ development of problem based learning and 21st century skills. Celebrating 50 years of Holy Spirit School This year, Holy Spirit is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of its opening year in 1965-1966. There will be a number of special events and ceremonies throughout this school year. Please pray that God’s will bless us with an anniversary year that is memorable and fun. More information will be posted in future parish bulletins. All friends, families (current and past) alumni and supporters of Holy Spirit school are invited and encouraged to participate in these events. YOUR prayers and participation is truly necessary to make this commemorative year a success. Please help us celebrate this amazing accomplishment of our parish school and send Holy Spirit securely into its next ½ century! Anyone interested in joining the planning committee for these events is encouraged to contact the school office for more information at (908) 687-8415. Thank you! He further asks all families to enrich and energize family life by praying the “World Meeting of Families Prayer” each day for their own family’s personal intentions. World Meeting of Families Prayer God and Father of us all, in Jesus, your Son and our Savior, You have made us Your sons and daughters in the family of the Church. May your grace and love help our families in every part of the world be united to one another in fidelity to the Gospel. May the example of the Holy Family, with the aid if your Holy Spirit, guide all families, especially those most troubled, to be homes of communion and prayer and to always seek Your truth and live in Your love.
