Interactive interdisciplinary seminars on Turkish business & culture supported with company visits and city tours to explore Turkish economy and Istanbul 15-29 June 2013 Okan University, Tuzla Campus, Istanbul Okan University “Doing Business in Turkey” Summer Program 15-29 June 2013 Program Objectives: With strong emphasis on Turkey’s current business, economic, social and cultural particularities, the program consists of seminars covering various key topics and discussions on the latest economic developments in Turkey: Overview of doing business in Turkey, including an introduction to the Turkish economy, history and culture Comprehensive understanding of current Turkish business environment and its future trends including wide range of topics such as business policy, corporate governance, legal aspects, strategy, marketing & branding, services management and cross cultural management International business outcomes of the new Turkish economic policy paradigm Discussions on the drivers of economic growth in Turkey and its sustainability Factors lying behind the transformation of Turkey into one of the major recipients of FDI in its region Key Turkish industries analysis: Opportunities and challenges for doing business in Turkey Program Schedule: Seminars, company visits and city tours Day 1: Saturday - Arrival to Istanbul Welcome Dinner Day 2: Sunday - Istanbul Welcome Seminar - Ice breaker exercises - Getting to know each other: Expectations and Needs Bosphorus Cruise Day 3: Monday- Istanbul Seminar - Facts and Figure: Turkish Economy at a Glance Seminar - Turkish Business Culture and Doing Business in Turkey Company Visit Day 4: Tuesday- Istanbul Seminar -Turkish legal and political environment for International business Seminar -Turkish Political Economy and its implications for international business Visit to TÜSİAD (Turkish Industry and Business Association) Day 5: Wednesday- Istanbul Full day City Tour to ancient city : Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace Day 6: Thursday – Gallipoli start of 4 days guided tour to Gallipoli, Troy, Kuşadası, Pamukkale and Ephesus Visit to Gallipoli and The Dardanelles Day 7: Friday- Kuşadası Visit to Troy and Kuşadası Day 8: Saturday- Kuşadası Visit to Kuşadası and Pamukkale Day 9: Sunday- Ephesus to Istanbul Visit to Ephesus and return to Istanbul Day 10: Monday- Istanbul Seminar- Investor’s Dilemma: Doing Business or not in Turkey Seminar – Corporate Culture and multinationals in Turkey Company Visit Day 11: Tuesday- Istanbul Seminar – Competition Strategy for Turkish Market: Turkish SME as new rising business partners Seminar – Turkish Banking and Finance System Visit to Bourse Istanbul (Istanbul Stock Exchange) Day 12: Wednesday- Istanbul Full day cultural site seeing Day 13: Thursday- Istanbul Seminar - Key Industries Analysis 1 Seminar – Key Industries Analysis 2 Visit to TOBB (Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey) Day 14: Friday- Istanbul Full day city visit and shopping- Grand Bazaar Farewell Dinner Day 15: Saturday- Istanbul Transfer from University Campus to Airport Program Details: Language of instruction is English. Credits: 84 contact hours during the program. 66 hours of student workload for reading and writing assignments before, during and after the program. Students, who submit a satisfactory written assignment a week after the end of the program, will be awarded 6 ECTS credits. Program fee: 1945 USD Included in the fee: - Seminars and city tours - 4 days guided tour to Gallipoli, Troy, Kuşadası, Pamukkale and Ephesus Transportation by bus and plane. Accommodation for 4 nights, breakfast&dinner. - Accommodation at Okan University Residence Halls* - Breakfast, lunch and welcome and farewell dinners in Istanbul - Airport transfers - Digital reading packet - Transportation during city tours and company visits - Use of computer labs and wi-fi *10 nights in 2 person rooms with bathroom.
