Drew Wiley 3 BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC CHURCH HARRISONBURG, VA PARISH LIFE CCW still has several of our Prayer Ministry booklets available. Do you know anyone who is homebound or ill and cannot get to church regularly? Do you carry Communion to shut ins? Do you have a student away at college or in the military? Do you have a son or daughter who has moved away from the community and can no longer worship with us? Our prayer ministry booklets were made with all of these in mind as a way of letting them know that they are missed and that we can all pray together even when circumstances keep us apart. Some of them are available at the ushers table, or you can get them from the office during the week. They are available in English and Spanish. KEEP THOSE PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS COMING! We go through LOTS AND LOTS of grocery bags and we will take as many clean, dry plastic grocery bags as you can give us. Please note that we can’t take paper bags as the glue attracts pests. We also are looking for STYROFOAM egg cartons. We cannot use the cardboard ones. We also welcome donations of non-perishable foods, personal hygiene products, cleaning products, and diapers. Especially welcome are monetary donations. $1 at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank goes many times further than the same $1 at a retail grocery store. HAITI TWIN PARISH MINISTRY Thanks to all for your help. We couldn’t do it without you! HAITI SPONSOR'S RECEPTION on JUNE 5TH 11:15 am -12:15 pm All sponsors and interested parishioners are invited to attend a Sponsors’ Reception in the lower level of the main church on Sunday, June 5th following the 10 am Mass. The Haiti Ministry is looking forward to presenting an update on our twin parish and sponsorship activities. We will also be available to answer any questions regarding this special twin parish relationship. Light refreshments will be provided to thank all of our sponsors and parishioners who have played such a vital role in providing spiritual, educational and life essential support to Fr. Dieudonné and the parish of St. Isidore. Please plan on coming and bring a friend. COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN On June 6th the Council of Catholic Women will be holding our end-of-the-year potluck. Spouses and families are welcome. It will be at 6pm in the church basement. Please bring a dish to share as we celebrate our accomplishments and welcome in a new slate of officers. WILL YOU CONSIDER BEING A HAITI SPONSOR? Thank you for the wonderful response that we recently received allowing us to continue three active student sponsorships. For those parishioners who continue to be interested, we are need of replacement sponsors for one 9th grade student ($25/mo), one food sponsorship for a single individual ($30/mo.) and one family food sponsorship ($50/ mo.) All of these persons are already in our sponsorship program, but are in need of new sponsors. Each has been personally identified by Fr. Dieudonné as persons needing special assistance. Food sponsors provide a monthly food stipend which is individually distributed by Fr. Dieudonné at the rectory. Ideally, sponsorships are maintained through a recurring donation through the BSCC website, although you also can pay monthly or annually through the first Sunday Haiti collection or by mail. To get more information or sign up, contact Pam Mason at 1pammason@gmail.com or 540-578-1364. Thank you. CHANGE IN HOSPITAL POLICY AT SENTERA RMH: Due to new software and privacy regulations, we will no longer be allowed to receive the names of Catholic patients at the hospital. If you or a loved one is going to the hospital and you want communion or anointing of the sick, you or a family member must call the office and inform us. If it’s an after hours emergency, you can call 540-615-5176. Otherwise, call 540-434-4341, and leave a message at extension 109. In order for Eucharistic Ministers to the sick and shut in to be able to know who to visit, we will be allowed to call the chaplain’s office every Friday afternoon for a verbal list. We cannot receive this list in email or written form, only oral. If there are Catholic patients, Martha will email the EM’s to the sick and shut in and/or inform the priests as necessary. However, this is just once a week and we can’t depend on this to inform us of any Catholic patients at the hospital throughout the week, so please call us or have someone call for you. 4 SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY MAY 22, 2016 Lost and Found: There is a basket in the back of the commons under the stairs to the loft for lost jackets, books, etc. If you find something of more value, such as keys or jewelry, eyeglasses, etc. please hand these to an usher.
