BLEED
What is a bleed ?
To guarantee your utmost satisfaction, please refer to the following technical guidelines when
creating your files. This will help us optimise the quality of the prints that you have ordered
from us. First, we recommend using the following software (versions 8 / CS5.5 or above):
A bleed is an image that extends beyond the page (3 mm or more), to prevent any errors
from occurring when folding or cutting prints. Without a bleed, there is a very significant risk
that a white border will appear between the image and the edge of the page. Also, please
remember to define a blank margin; this can avoid a number of unpleasant surprises.
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
Quark Xpress

Bleed (3 mm minimum)
Use the following DTP software; contrary to office tools (such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint), these powerful, professional applications are suited to four-colour, high resolution
printing. We also advise against using freeware downloaded from the Internet.
Please provide your files in PDF format. Colours must be defined to CMYK mode, and image
resolution must be set to 300 dpi. Also, please make sure that you do not lock your files with
a password and that all fonts used in texts are vectorised (this ensures that we can open your
files without trouble, even if we do not have access to your fonts).

text (3mm)
When creating a file in Adobe Photoshop, please make sure that you are working with
a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and that you have selected the CMYK colour mode.
Also, please take care to add an extra 5 millimetres to your image, to create a bleed.
In this example, we have added a 2.5 mm bleed, i.e. 2,5 x 2 sides = 5 mm at 21 cm
and 5 mm at 29.7 cm.
CREAT WITH INDESIGN
When creating a file in Adobe InDesign, please make sure you define a minimum 3
mm bleed and a 3 mm white border on all sides.
To save your work as a PDF file, select File > Export > PDF (print).

How to obtain intense black tones
If your creation features a black background, simply selecting the colour black is not
enough. Create a specific colour using the following settings: 100% black and 50% cyan,
50% magenta and 50% yellow. This black highlighting technique will provide for denser,
deeper black areas, without overinking.
This technique is not required for text – a 100% black tone is enough. This technique is
applicable with all software.
CREAT WITH ILLUSTRATOR
When creating your file in Adobe Illustrator, please make sure you define a minimum
3 mm bleed and select the CMYK colour mode.
If you have created your image in RVB mode, please change the colour mode by
selecting File > Mode color mode > CMYK.
