Rookie Animal Services Officer Charles Munoz went out to collect the dog that would later be named “Miss Baxter.” Miss Baxter was brought to the shelter and vaccinated for kennel cough, distemper and parvo and placed in a kennel with food and water. The next day, while visiting the shelter to look for a dog to adopt, Grand Prairie resident Tammy Thoman discovered Miss Baxter and was so moved by her desperate appearance that she offered to pay for the cost of grooming and any veterinary care that Miss Baxter might need. Miss Baxter was adopted three days later by Kim K. another loving Grand Prairie resident. We’d like to offer our sincere thanks to Dr. Mark Sheets’s office, All Breeds’ Groomers, the City of Grand Prairie Animal Services Staff and most of all, to the caring and generous citizens of Grand Prairie and particularly to Ms. Thoman who has so richly blessed Miss Baxter. Prairie Paws receives, vaccinates and houses more than 5,000 animals per year and currently has a staff of nine people. Volunteers and fosters are always welcome and appreciated! They also gratefully accept donations that provide for medical care for foster animals, spaying and neutering for Petco adoptions and grooming for special needs animals such as Miss Baxter.
