PARISH OFFICE SUMMER HOURS
Our Parish Office will close at 12 noon on Fridays beginning
May 24 through August.
Did You Know… ? that St. Patrick used the shamrock as a symbol to explain the Trinity?
It is said Patrick would hold up a shamrock and challenge his hearers, "Is it one leaf or three?" "It is both one
leaf and three," was their reply. "And so it is with God," he would conclude. The Solemnity of the Most Holy
Trinity commemorates a reality and belief rather than a specific event or person. On Trinity Sunday we
remember and honor three persons in one eternal God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus introduced us to this mystery when He revealed to us that God is love. He is the Creator and merciful
Father; He is the Only-Begotten Son, eternal Wisdom incarnate, who died and rose for us; He is the Holy
Spirit who moves all things, cosmos and history, toward their final, full destiny. Three persons who are one
God because the Father is love, the Son is love, the Spirit is love. God is wholly and only love, the purest,
infinite and eternal love, an inexhaustible source of life that is ceaselessly given and communicated. The
strongest proof that we are made in the image of the Trinity is this: love alone makes us happy because we live
in a relationship, and we live to love and to be loved.
Celebrate the Year of Faith by praying that all may come to know Christ and embrace the teachings of His
Church.

Loving God, give strength and protection to all who
struggle with illness of any kind. Calm their fears
and uncertainties. Provide them with loving and
tender care. Grant them courage when they are afraid
and comfort when they are in pain.
Please remember recently deceased family, friends

Grant them eternal rest and may your

Since IC did not hold its
spring blood drive this year,
we would like those who still
wish to donate to be apprised
of the following blood drive.
The Edward A. Caron
Memorial Blood Drive will be
held on Saturday, June 8,
2013 from 8:00 AM – 2:00
PM at the Elmhurst Elks
Lodge, 711 W. St. Charles
Road in Elmhurst. The Caron Family is a member of
Immaculate Conception Church.
To schedule your appointment,
please call LifeSource at 877-543-3768 or register online
at www.lifesource.org and reference sponsor code 975C.
Donors will receive a free coupon
for a pint of Culver’s frozen custard,
compliments of Culver’s in Lombard.
Many thanks to the ODEUM
for providing us “leftovers”
from a recent management
conference. Their generosity
allows us to provide more
food to those using the
pantry. A special thank you
to those IC volunteers who transported the food from the
Odeum back to IC. It’s only through many hands working
together that we are able to take advantage of these unique
opportunities when they come our way. THANK YOU!
Our most needed items this week include paper products,
(kleenex, paper towels, toilet paper), laundry detergent
and dish soap, flour, sugar and vegetable oil, milk, eggs,
cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables.
As summer approaches, your donations become more
crucial than ever. Many students receive free lunch/
snacks at their respective schools. Once school is out,
the burden for parents to feed their children
nutritiously becomes more challenging. May God
bless you a hundredfold for your continued generosity.
THANK YOU to all who so generously contributed to our annual Mother’s Day gift
collection. We were overwhelmed by the number of gift bags we received and will be
handing out much-needed items to grateful women for the next month.
So often, we take items like toothpaste, bath gel, hair conditioner, cologne, finger nail polish
and other personal hygiene items for granted. However, many who struggle to put food on
the table can only dream of these “luxuries.” Due to your generosity, these women feel a
little more special….thank you for sharing some of your abundance with others.
May God bless you.
Teens Leave For Mission Trip at
St. Mary’s Mission in Red Lake, MN
Please keep the teens that are leaving this
weekend to spend a week on mission with
Fr. Jerry and his kids on the reservation in
your thoughts and prayers. Twelve teens
from IC Catholic Prep, along with two
chaperones will arrive in Red Lake Monday
evening. Godspeed!
Heartfelt thanks to those who donated to our
free-will offering two weeks ago. Your
generosity has allowed these students to
experience firsthand Christ’s command to
care for the lesser of our brothers and sisters.
The teens will pray for us while on mission
and will recount their experience for all to
see when they return home to IC.

Exciting Changes - Coming Soon!
Be a Part of Immaculate Conception History
If you have not had a chance to be a part of the renovations to date, please consider helping today. We have an
aggressive schedule to get things done over the summer. One of the updates to the worship space will be the
renovation of the pews. Can you sponsor a pew?
All donors who sponsor a pew will be recognized in the commemorative booklet at the rededication of the church
this fall. Additionally, we will be installing plaques on the end of each pew. Please fill out and return this form with
your payment this week:
Yes! I would like to sponsor:

STEWARDSHIP RENEWAL PROGRAM
Thank you to all who have already responded to our
renewal efforts of our Sunday offerings. Since July 1, our
Sunday collections have not been regularly meeting our
budget of $26,500. Through Sunday, May 19, our
shortfall is $18,600. Some of you have already responded
that you will be able to increase your donations in order to
help us make up our current shortfall and to move ahead
in a positive manner. Please give from your heart to the
Lord as a sign of your gratitude for the many blessings
that God has given you.
