EV CHARGING STATIONS
With a population of approximately 32,000 people,
the City of Campbell River is the third largest city and
the fourth largest community on Vancouver Island,
located in a scenic oceanfront setting on the eastern
shore of Vancouver Island, British Columbia,
Canada.
The use of Electric Vehicles
reduces CO2 emissions by
50% compared to an internal
combustion engine.
Campbell River, BC will join the
British Columbia Clean Energy
Vehicle Program (CEV).
The City is committed to maintaining the
ecological integrity of the area and its
magnificent watershed.
The City has
identified key priority areas pertaining to
sustainability planning, waste reduction,
energy conservation, renewable energy, and
environmental management and stewardship.
One of the key components of the
Strategy includes a commitment to
develop a greenhouse gas emissions
reduction plan for the community
and achieve carbon neutrality in
municipal operations.

The City of Campbell River is a signatory
to the BC Climate Action Charter, which
requires that the City reduce and where
necessary, offset the greenhouse gas
emissions from City facilities, fleet and
traditional services to zero emissions by
2012.
The City of Campbell River is
participating in the British
Columbia Clean Energy Vehicle
Program (CEV).
The CEV program is designed to provide British
Columbians with a variety of clean and green choices
for their transportation needs. The City purchased
electric vehicle charging stations from Nedco and is
having them installed at 3 sites by the end of March
2013. Each site will have 2 plug in heads allowing two
cars to charge at each location. The City of Campbell
River sites will be on the public electric vehicle
charging network, electric vehicle drivers will be able
to locate the City’s charging sites on their computer
or on the move using their smartphone. This is just
one of the ways the City of Campbell River is showing
their commitment to reducing carbon emissions and
being a Green City.
