Library Matters April 2013
The Newsletter for the Greenville-Butler County Public Library APRIL 2013 L i br a R y Ma t t e r s DID YOU KNOW? Take-A-Book @ the Library The Library has a large collection of paperback novels in a variety of different genres that are free to the public! You can sign-out up to 10 books at one time. Bring back those same 10 - or replace them with 10 of your own - when you’re ready for some new paperbacks to read! WITH OUR 2013 SUMMER READING PROGRAM! Our Summer Reading program for 2013 is scheduled for June this year. We’ll start things off with a kickoff celebration, meet every Tuesday and Thursday, and wrap things up with a Grand Finale. Summer Reading is for children ages 2 through the 4th Grade and is a great way to help your child avoid the dreaded ‘Summer Slide.’ Teachers and curriculum experts agree that children who read during the summer are better prepared for the next school year. Research conducted at Harvard University showed that just reading 4 or 5 books over the summer helps to prevent the summer slump. Help your child avoid the ‘slump!’ Participate in our Summer Reading program this year! We’ll have t-shirts, prizes, reading awards and snack and story time. More information about the program will be forthcoming in this newsletter and at the Library. JOB OPPORTUNITY @ THE LIBRARY FOR TEEN Will you be a senior in high school the 2013-14 school year?
