This once-in-a-lifetime event will be held July 15-19, 2014, in Washington, D.C., at the Washington Hilton Hotel. The Boulé committee has chosen the perfect theme for this Boulé – “Blazing New Paths: The Power of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood.” Boulé 2014 will be very special and I am so proud to be the Grand during this time in history. We will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated with our constitutionally-bound brothers! However, our first priority is to Zeta. We want you to attend workshops, business sessions and other trainings that will take place during our national conference. Afterwards, feel free to socialize with your brothers, tour the lovely city of D.C., and explore its historical district. I would also like to take this opportunity to invite our Amicae to Boulé 2014. You are the true meaning of “Friend” because of your untiring support of our sisterhood. We have special events planned for you and we want you to interact with us as you continue to build your programs that have always enhanced Zeta. The Boulé planning committee, along with Eastern Regional Director T. Diane Surgeon and the D.C. area chapters, has been working diligently to ensure a successful conference in the birthplace of our Sorority. We thank everyone who has worked and will work tirelessly to make this Boulé a success. God bless you all and I look forward to seeing you at Boulé. Mason, Sr. Named by Billboard Magazine as the No. 1 Gospel Artist of the last decade, Yolanda Adams is an award winning gospel singer, record producer, actress, and radio host, having garnered multiple Grammys, NAACP music awards and American Music Awards. Her powerful presence will grace the stage at the Interfaith Breakfast. A dynamic and powerful orator, Brother Jonathan A. Mason, Sr., will deliver our morning inspirational message. Currently serving as National President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Bro. Mason is only one of two African American executives serving in the role of direct sales for major radio markets. He and his wife, Soror Dionis A. Hussey, are the proud parents of two sons. You will be “wowed” by his message. MEN OF SOUL Take a stroll back in time to the old school music of male singers who rocked your world and invaded your dreams. Men who could sing love songs and make you swoon as you listened to their melodious voices. That’s the treat you will receive from “The Men of Soul” during the Boulé 2014 Concert. Howard Hewett and three young men known as “Next” will thoroughly entertain you as they bring their music to you like nobody else can. This promises to be a concert you won’t forget. Singing love songs has always been Howard Hewett’s trademark. He has the ability to use his voice and the lyrics to his songs to make you sway all night long to his music. Mr. Hewett, according to Rolling Stone, is the premier vocalist in the post-Marvin Gaye era of romantic pop. He soars to new heights and seduces his audience. He came on the music scene as lead singer of Shalamar and went solo in the mid 1980’s. His first single released on his own, “I’m For Real”, zoomed to number one followed by a series of hit songs. 6 ZETA PHI BETA SORORITY, INCORPORATED | GRAND BOULÉ 2014 Robert “RL” Huggar, Terry “T-Low” Brown and Raphael “Tweet” Brown are the harmonizing voices behind the R&B group known as “Next” . The group has topped the Billboard Year-End Charts as “Top New Pop Artist,” and “Top Hot 100 Singles Artist Duos/Group.” They are the voices behind the singles “Butta Love,” “Wifey,” and “I Still Love You,” songs that made women sit up and take notice of the hot new guys on the scene. Their performance will give the ladies something to smile about! “Blazing New Paths: The Power of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood.” Boulé HIGHLIGHTS MADIBA Photographs of a Legend Zeta is thrilled to host a viewing of the Nelson Mandela Photo Exhibits (Nelson Mandela: Madiba - Photographs of a Legend). Each of us has a responsibility to represent the Zeta brand in the best light possible wherever we go and in whatever we do. Etiquette is the art of knowing and using the appropriate behavior and protocol for different types of human interactions. It means having good manners in our dealings with others in order to show respect, kindness and consideration for them. Please observe the following common courtesies and protocols while attending the conference: 1. Refrain from discussing Zeta business in public areas (lobbies, hallways, elevators, etc). You will be surprised what hotel personnel and others learn from our casual conversations when we are not paying attention. Please save your conversation for the privacy of your guest room. 12 ZETA PHI BETA SORORITY, INCORPORATED | GRAND BOULÉ 2014 2. Be courteous to everyone at all times. Even when faced with a problem, do your best to handle it with a smile on your face. You can get much further by using a smile coupled with diplomacy when tackling a problem. Plus, it takes fewer muscles to smile than it does to frown. 3. In the interest of ensuring that everyone has an enjoyable experience at the Boulé, safety concerns, and minimizing the Sorority’s exposure to risk, no one will be allowed to harass others, form protests, or pilfer meeting space. We must be able to disagree peacefully and respectfully. For the protection of all attendees, we will have Security present at all times to help maintain an orderly environment. 4.
