When following a plan Marlene has found that she has had no major injuries to deal with before, during or after. If Marlene had her way, trails would consume more of her running time than the streets but with her weekday runs starting at 5A or recently earlier, the streets are where the rubber meets the road, so let this be a notice to all of you that are out and about before the crack of dawn, you never know where you will see the glow of reflective gear and lights around town. I asked Marlene about her running shoes, for seasoned runners know that footwear is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle. She is an all-around Brooks girl whether on hard surfaces or dirt trails, with a laugh she says they should pay her to run! local fitness facility that bonded and continue to bond, it is with their support and encouragement that many pages have been turned in the chapters, with many more to follow as the book has quite a life ahead of it. Thank you Sole Sisters! .And now to the real CHALLENGE, 55 on 55. Marlene will turn 55 in October and had a twin brother Myron who passed away 10 years ago. With the help of Mike Diesburg they are mapping a route beginning on Casper Mountain heading to the south and west and ending in the metropolis of Casper. Anyone willing to be a ‘slacer’, (customized pacer that is willing to be a cross between her snail pace and that of a real pacer) on any mile or miles during this event, she would welcome and appreciate it, and lastly pray for her. For more about her cause read on: 55 on 55 Myron and Marlene Our 4th Birthday Remembrance Run & Fundraising Event MYRON RAY LAMBERT In spite of my, (what should be), common sense or better judgment, I will be challenging myself to complete 55 miles on my 55th birthday this year. I want to spend this time to remember and honor my Twin Brother, Myron, who gallantly fought and gracefully submitted to Cancer 10 years ago. My brother was a true gentle spirit who enjoyed the mountains, growing flowers, going fishing and spending time with family. With the help of my Sole Sisters and Brothers, I will embark on this journey 10 minutes before midnight, on October 19th, the time that Myron was born. My goal is to run as much as I can, walk as much as I can and when it comes down to it – don’t be afraid to crawl if necessary. Because of Myron’s caring nature, I also wanted this to benefit a family in our community that has touched the hearts of many. I know he would have cared for them as I have come to. Myron and his Lovely Wife Gara The Esterline family has an unwavering faith that I have not witnessed before. Their daughter, Mateah is a 5 year old girl that has Rett Syndrome. They have unselfishly raised over $25,000 in the last 2 years and donated all of it to Rett Research. I would like to ask for your sponsorship, either by the mile or a flat $$$$ amount. All money received would go to the Esterline Family to use as needed. Mateah is a beautiful, smart, tenacious 5 year old. She loves music, dancing and watching her favorite movies. On December 12, 2013 Mateah was diagnosed with Rett syndrome; a debilitating neurological (movement) disorder. Rett Sponsorships can be mailed to: Marlene Short 520 Boles Road Casper, WY 82604 C/O Move it for Mateah syndrome has stolen her voice, her ability to walk independently and taken most of her purposeful hand movements. As devastating as this seems- her story is far from tragic! Mateah is an overcomer! Despite her physical limitations, Mateah is very smart and she is now learning to communicate using a Tobii eyegaze communication system. A fact is Mateahs body has failed her..... Truth however is she does not let that So many running memories and adventures in Wyoming!
