Effective collaboration does not happen by accident. It is intentional and requires the dedication of business, government and civic leaders like you. Since its establishment in 1995, The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce’s Competitive Edge initiative has spearheaded economic development for Raleigh, Wake County and the Research Triangle. Edge has generated significant returns and impact for the region, including: To achieve the goals of Edge 5, we have embarked on an aggressive, five-year program to invest $12 million in five key pillars: Regional Competitiveness & Cooperation; Marketing & Public Relations, New Business Attraction & Job Creation; Existing Industry Support, Innovation & Entrepreneurship; Talent Attraction & Development; and Quality of Place & Sustainability. The result of this investment will be the creation of a minimum of 100,000 jobs in the region with more than 65,000 of these in Wake County with an associated annual income of over $5 billion. 168,500 or 58% increase in new jobs in Wake County between 1995 – 2012 n We have agreed to serve as joint chairs of the Edge 5 campaign and our organizations are investing in the fiveyear Edge program. Passage of four school bonds totaling $3 billion for school construction We ask you to join us. Raleigh, Wake County and the region have enjoyed tremendous success over the past 20 years. Integrate that brand into the Partnership’s marketing campaign n n n WAKE COUNTY EMPLOYMENT INCREASED BY MORE THAN 72,500 JOBS FROM JANUARY 2010 THROUGH JULY 2014. 5 EDGE 5 — THE LEADING EDGE Support the growth of emerging and converging clusters including CleanTech, Information Technology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, and Healthcare Serve as the facilitator and convener for industry and business organizations in the region to promote and sustain our “best-in-class” culture of partnership and collaboration Cultivate site selection consultants and market the region to create a strong pipeline of economic development projects considering the region Provide project management to support the region in economic development projects 2 Marketing/PR, New Business Attraction & Job Creation GOAL: Attract new jobs and investment to Raleigh and Wake County ACTIONS: Articulate Raleigh and Wake County’s competitive advantages through precision marketing strategies aimed at target industry sectors* n n Launch a national and international media and public relations campaign to showcase Raleigh, Wake County and the region Generate new business opportunities by cultivating relationships with site selection consultants, real estate brokers and developers through participation in trade shows, industry events and targeted recruitment trips n n n Develop industry specific marketing materials and website enhancements to promote the assets of targeted industry sectors Coordinate requests for proposals and site visits for prospects interested in relocating to Raleigh and Wake County in partnership with economic development partners *Targeted Industry Sectors Include: 1. Life Sciences: Contract Research Organizations, Biotechnology, Drug Development, Pharmaceuticals and Drug Manufacturing. 2. Information Technology: Software Development, Computer Hardware Manufacturing, Application Development, Data/Analytics, Data Storage, Information Technologies and Mobile Technologies. 3.
