Alexander County is located in the scenic foothills of North Carolina’s Appalachian Mountains. Bordered
on the south by the Catawba River, the county offers numerous recreational activities, upscale and
moderate housing, and opportunities for industrial and commercial operations Alexander County has a
long tradition of manufacturing and has one of the highest manufacturing workforce percentages in the
state, Alexander County is a place where products

Industrial sites are within a short drive
of Interstates 40 and 77 and the major
urban areas of Hickory, Statesville,
and Charlotte. With some 300 acres
available, the Alexander Industrial Park
features the infrastructure required for
industrial development. Existing utilities
include dual electric providers, water,
sewer, natural gas, fiber optic services,
and rail service. As of 2015, two shovelready rail sites are available, both of which contain approximately 25 acres. Rail service is provided by
the Alexander Railroad Company.

Craftmaster Furniture recently completed the purchase and renovation of a vacant 200,000 square feet
facility creating 48 new jobs and bringing their total employment to about 500. Furniture manufacturer
Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams has been a perennial employment powerhouse in Alexander County
offering unparalleled employee benefits including on-site cafeteria, onsite child daycare, gift shop, -em
ployee concierge and other benefits for their more than 500 employees. The company has 18 signature
retail stores in the U.S. and four international stores.

Paragon Films, one of the largest stretch film manufacturers in North America, operates out of the Alex
ander Industrial Park and recently completed a $12 million,
60,000-square-foot expansion bringing their total investment to around $20 million and employing-ap
proximately 50 at their Alexander County facility.
Schneider Mills was founded in Alexander County more than
60 years ago. The company now has some 300 employ
ees and has completed more than $10 million in recent
equipment upgrades. In addition, a subsidiary, Composite
Fabrics of America, produces carbon fiber products for the
composites industry.
While focused on diversifying the employment base, Alex
ander County has maintained its rural nature. Two-thirds
of Alexander County’s 263 square miles are devoted to
Agribusiness producing more than $100 million in annual
income. Alexander County’s motto is “Gem of North Carolina,” referring to the precious emeralds found
in the Hiddenite community as well as the low taxes, affordable sites, dependable workforce, and small
town quality of life which make Alexander County an attractive location for residents, industries, and
businesses.
