By Bob Bailey Executive VP of Operations, COO Teeco Products, Inc. Thank you to our vendors who sponsored and/or attended our second biennial open house at our Sacramento Facility in October. The event was attended by more than 100 customers who had the opportunity to see the latest and greatest products and obtain education from one of the many training sessions provided throughout the day. We had a live pull away demonstration provided by Smart Hose, followed by a barbecue lunch. It was a very impressive demonstration and if you missed it, I recommend that you go to our website, www. teecoproducts.com and view the video. You won’t be disappointed. Those of us who didn’t have enough fun at the Open House, attended the Golf Tournament on Friday. It was a miracle for some to make it to the course by 7:00am, but with the promise of Food, Drinks, and Golf well, Executive Vice President & COO Bob Bailey enough said. We had 70 golfers tee up for a shotgun start, and all were provided with a Tri-Tip lunch at the end of the round. Prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and closest to the pin, along with a raffle of wonderful prizes donated by our many sponsors. Oh, did I mention the drinks? The main thing is everyone had a great time, and again thank you to all our vendors who made this event possible with their sponsorship. Well if you weren’t able to make this year’s event, we have been kind enough to put together a couple of picture collages, so you can see what you missed. Again, thank you to all our sponsors and to all of you who attended. Mark your calendar for October 2016 for Teeco’s next Open House. While working there, he got to know a gentleman named Stoney who worked at PACA, another subsidiary of Cal Gas. Bob eventually went to work for Stoney, and went from sweeping floors to bookkeeping, purchasing, customer service, and managing the Fabrication Shop. He became PACA’s General Sales Manager in 1989. That same year, PACA was sold to Teeco Products, and Bob became part of the Teeco team. He again worked his way up through the ranks and is now Teeco’s Main Man, serving as Executive Vice President and COO. TEECO Sacramento, CA Superstore Bob’s son, Chad Bailey, is also part of the Teeco family. Chad began working at Teeco part-time while he was in college in 2001. After graduating with a degree in Business Accountancy, Chad came on full time, pulling orders, shipping, receiving and building hose assemblies. Like his dad, Chad worked his way up, and he now works in Teeco’s Customer Service department, helping customers with orders and product questions. He is also responsible for American Standard and Quality Steel consignment inventory, and for submitting our Sacramento location’s payroll paperwork. TEECO Auburn, WA 1601 Pike Street N.W. Page 6 Tech: Bypass Pressure Check Procedures Checking Bypass or Differential Pressure Adjusting External Bypass Valve It is not necessary to blow down the system to adjust the bypass valve. Remove the top cap and back off the locking nut. With an Allen Wrench turn clockwise to put more pressure on the spring to increase pressure, or turn counter clockwise to decrease pressure. When you have the proper pressure, hold the setscrew in position with the Allen wrench and retighten the lock nut. Install the bypass gauge assembly to the end of the fill hose and attach to the tank fill valve. Open the valve on the bypass gauge assembly and note the pressure. This shows a tank pressure of 120 psi. Next turn on the pump and circulate product back into the tank. Now shut off the ball valve on your bypass gauge assembly. When you close the valve, the pressure on the gauge climbs to 210psi. Your bypass or differential pressure would be 90 psi. (210psi-120psi tank pressure = 90 psi) It is very important that the external bypass maximum setting is 10-15 psi lower than the internal pump bypass setting. Note: On Smith’s E Series pumps, the pump bypass can be utilized as an external or an internal bypass by rotating the cover. If you have the pump rotated to the 9 o’clock position utilizing the pump bypass as an internal bypass you will need to check the setting. To check the internal bypass setting on the E-Series Smith pumps, while you have your bypass gauge assembly installed and in the closed position, close the shutoff valve in the external bypass return line to the tank. (Do not close this for more than 10 seconds or excess vapor could accumulate in the pump and may cause damage) Now read the pressure on your gauge. For example, if the gauge pressure reads 210psi then the internal bypass is set at 90 psi ( 210 psi- 120 psi tank pressure = 90 psi) and your external should be set 10-15 psi lower. Bypass pressure can be set utilizing an AMP probe. Every motor has listed on their data plate FLA or a Full Load AMP rating. The Bluffton 1.5 HP motor pictured has a rating of 15.4 FLA. When we start up a dispenser we are always on full bypass and are starting at a full load. When we start this unit on full bypass, we are pulling 15.16 AMPs which is within the FLA rating of the motor. The more you increase the bypass pressure the higher the AMP pull. If you have an installation with constant motor problems you need to check the FLA. If you are exceeding the FLA you can decrease the bypass pressure or possibly increase the wire size to the motor.
