PRECISION LINK CONVEYOR
MODULAR CONCEPT
Linear conveyor
Built
to better suit the
PRODUCTIVITY, DURABILITY and
FLEXIBILITY needs of a modern
automation.
The modular design of the " TL " conveyors combine
excellent ACCURACY and SPEED capability with the
maximum VERSATILITY.
Accuracy
Special chain with cast-iron alloy precision
links machined to the highest accuracy standards
and protected with chemical nikel plating.
Hardened ground pivotal and sliding elements.
Constant chain tension is guaranted by chordal
compensation cams.
Speed
The C D S Index drive type IGA allow high number of
cycles per minute with a vibration free motion.
Operating speed can reach 200 indexes per minute,
depending on load.
Versatility
The modular concept and the maximum flexibility, as objective in any single element design makes easier
custom alterations as :
.
conveyor lenght - index distance, index motions - different drive package arrangement - auxiliary line shaft
configuration - conveyor mainframes custom tooled - working position.

TRASMISSION
Sinchronous drive
The Conveyor works in mechanical synchronization with
other parts, deriving its own movement from the main
machine drive.
The degrees engaged for the INDEX period, which is
normally the passive part in machine cycle, will be equivalent
to the minimum essential limit required by the Indexer to
perform the output displacement.
More degrees engaged in the DWELL period, are in
advantage to the active part in the machine cycle.

Synchronism is obtained with a start/stop signal originated
from the Indexer cam-shaft.
The signal, detected on the DWELL period, confirm that the
INDEX period has taken place giving the start to the working
units.
The degrees engaged in DWELL can be minimal and
determined by the time to stop the drive system.
More degrees engaged in the INDEX period, are in
advantage to the motion characteristic choice.

PROTECTION SYSTEMS
Torque limiter on the input
cam shaft and motor control
The picture shows two common protection devices.
Type A is a torque limiter mounted on the input shaft, or built
in the reducer.
The most relevant characteristics are compact dimensions
and mechanical simplicity.
It can protect the reducer and partially the Indexer.
Type B is based on the dynamic control of the motor.
In case of emergency it is possible to adjust the stop time and
create an adeguate deceleration ramp.
In this way dynamic overload on mechanical parts of the
conveyor and its transmission is substantially reduced.

1
The use of this Syncronous limiter (1) is
recomended to protect the conveyor from
overloading forces generated by emergency stops
during the INDEX period or by extraordinary
torque applied during DWELL period.
5
Operating concept is simple and based on the
capacity to transmit a preset torque by a
controlled friction force.

An adjusting nut (3) regulates the load of thrust
spring (2) acting on a thrust disk (4) pushing on a
series of roller pins housed in specific seats
integral with the conveyor ;
an accurate setting of the release forces is
possible by the adjusting nut (3).
When the set limit overcome the thrust disk (4) lift
up and release the coupling; a sensor (5) detects
the insertion to the machine control.
Once remooved the faults, rotating the driving
head by hand, it is possible to bring the equipment
to the original position thanks to the syncronous
features of the coupling.
See possible different configurations in the technical guidelines chapter 5.2 and
applicative example in the next page

CUSTOM CAPABILITY
To better suit Customer's needs, C D S can design and manufacture entire
MACHINE SUB-SYSTEMS, ready for the final tooling, which integrated :
PARTS HANDLERS, auxiliary INDEX DRIVES, CUSTOM CAMS to drive SPECIAL
MECHANISMS; working either in mechanical synchronization or with indipendent
drives.
C D S reliability in every component ensure the highest performances and durability
for your in-line automation application.
