Marianne Mølmen, Agency for Urban Environment ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN AN OIL NATION WHY 3% OF ALL NEW CARS SOLD IN NORWAY ARE ELECTRIC ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN NORWAY : • Drive for free on toll roads (in Oslo 3,5 - 5 Euro/day). • Do not have to pay 25% VAT on new electric vehicles. • Low annual road fee for EVs (EV = 55 euro/year, ICE=395 euro/year). • Can drive in lanes reserved for bus and taxi. • Park for free in public parking spaces, but need to abide by the maximum parking time. • Do not have to pay for the EV on local ferries. • Have a strong EV user organization. SUPPORT GOVERNMENT SCHEMES • Incentives since late 1990s • Guarantee that incentives will last until 2017 or 50 000 EVs Transnova funded projects: • Fast charging stations • NOBIL charging station • Transnova: database Government fund to provide • Hydrogen buses in Oslo funding for sustainable mobility • Biofuel projects projects.
