There are more than 2.5 million franchised units worldwide (European Franchise Federation, 2010). For instance, in the United States, there are more than 2,200 networks, including 746,828 franchised units, responsible for 8,100,000 jobs and generating 769 billion dollars in revenue (Pricewaterhouse Coopers, 2012). In Europe as well, franchising is particularly developed with about 400,000 franchised units. In France for example, there are 1,569 franchisors and 62,041 franchised units with 49.24 billion euros of turnover (French Franchise Federation, 2012). Also in France, associated retailing is composed of 80 groups, corresponding to 142 networks, with a total of 40,362 units and 131.4 billion euros of turnover (Fédération des enseignes du Commerce Associé, 2012). Join us in the Master Marketing - Franchising and Network Management! The Master Marketing - Franchising and Network Management, launched in September 2012 by the Graduate School of Management - University of Rennes 1, is specifically aimed at English-speaking students with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management, Business Administration, Economics, Law, etc. The specificity of this program is to combine a comprehensive academic program in franchising and network management taught exclusively in English with intensive French language courses. Classes are taught by French and foreign researchers along with practitioners who are all experts in the field. They cover complementary approaches such as Marketing, Management, Human Resources Management, Strategy, Finance, Law, etc. The Fédération Française de la Franchise and the Fédération des enseignes du Commerce Associé are partners of this Master. New in 2013: the « Chaire Franchise et Commerce en Réseau » will be launched this Spring 2013, by Dr. Rozenn Perrigot, with the objective of reinforcing the relationships between students, profesionnals of franchising and networks (APEF Services, Groupe Beaumanoir, KPMG Franchise et Réseaux, Mc Donald’s Rennes, O2 Home Services, Subway) and researchers. Tailor-made for future Managers and Executives in international networks, in retail and service industries, and more specifically in the areas of marketing, management and development of networks, the program arms students with a wide range of up-to-date and useful skills in franchising and network management. All applicants must submit official international scores of one of the following tests: TOEFL (550 paper test or above (80 IBT Score)) TOEIC (750 or above ) IELTS (overall band score of 6 for the Academic version) Proof of prior Higher Education in English speaking country (GPA of 2-4 scale) Four passport sized photos (format 4cm x 4cm) Photocopy of all passport pages and «carte de séjour» if applicable Certified translation in French or in English of birth certificate Detailed curriculum vitae Motivation letter written in English explaining the reasons why you are applying to this Master Course modules All the program modules are taught exclusively in English. In order to help acquaint foreign students to the French language and culture, 100 hours of French language training will be offered throughout the month of September before the beginning of the Franchising and Network Management program. Additionally, the students will attend 100 hours of French classes per semester, at a pace of eight to ten hours per week. All students will be expected to sit a French proficiency test at the beginning of September. The results of this test will enable the professors to place students in classes corresponding to their level of proficiency (beginner, intermediate or advanced). Homogeneous groups will then be formed aiming at preparing students for the internationally-recognized French examination, the DELF, to be held at the end of the academic year. The French courses are also designed for a better integration in the student life in IGR-IAE, and a better understanding of the French culture and environment.
