Deerfield is committed to making life in Western North Carolina better. To support our residents in their charitable giving, and to keep track of our social accountability as a community, you can make gifts to other not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organizations through Deerfield’s Fund Development office. We will acknowledge your tax-deductible contribution with a tax receipt. On the last day of each month, we will combine your gift with those of other residents and send it on to the various organizations listing your name, address, amount, memory/honor information and restrictions. “We need to give. We all need a place to put our gratitude.” – Mary In addition to the organizations listed here with whom Deerfield has established giving relationships, you may also direct donations through Deerfield to 501(c)(3) organizations that either operate within Western North Carolina, are focused on health or elder issues, or are otherwise aligned with Deerfield’s mission. Gifts to churches, including St. Giles, and non-local schools and colleges should be made directly to those institutions and not through Deerfield. If you have any questions about whether an organization qualifies for this program, please ask. NOTE: Deerfield does not withhold any fees for this service. Giving in Ways that Benefit the Deerfield Community In addition to Directed Outreach which benefits those in the community at large, you may also give in ways that are meaningful to folks here at Deerfield. Our Promise is Forever Deerfield’s leadership has made a life-long commitment to its residents that they can continue to live here regardless of their ability to pay. The Residents Assistance Fund provides aid to help those who need financial assistance. Giving to it is a great way to care for your less fortunate neighbors. The Danny Boone Scholarship Fund is a ministry to aid deserving Deerfield employees who are pursuing higher education. The fund grants scholarship aid for each term and has helped numerous staff members advance in their careers through learning. The Healthcare Fund advances the initiatives in Deerfield’s Assisted Living and Skilled Care areas as we move away from the institutional model towards more individualized care. This fund is used to purchase specialized equipment, train staff, and pursue other goals to continually improve the quality of care for our residents. Gifts can be made directly to Deerfield, restricted to a specific purpose or unrestricted. You may also give in memory of someone who has died or in honor of someone you wish to acknowledge. The Fund Development office will promptly notify family members or honorees of gifts given in the name of others. Have you considered making a gift to Deerfield or another charity in your will? For more information on Planned Giving, see Cheryl Gettinger in Deerfield’s Fund Development office.
