Les Schwab stepped up big time with a donation of 2 - $200
Gift cards and 4 – Optima Blue Top Batteries! This is one of
the reasons the fundraiser went as well as it did.
See Aaron at the Taylorsville store made this happen,
please thank him and support them.

The 10th Annual Catch-A-Cure
for Cancer Charity
Tournament & Fundraiser
raised $8,851 for Camp
Hobe’. Way to go!!!!
Fenwick helped us out immensely
this year. Fenwick provided rods for
each team member on the top 3 teams, each
side, which donated their winnings back to Camp
Hobe’.
The rods were the new Fenwick HMG rods.
State-of-the-art Carbon Veil technology in the world's
original graphite rod. The classic, comfortable rods
Fenwick® is famous for. When designing the HMG®
series, we took a unique approach. Instead of building it
action-specific, it's application-specific. The correct
action for the proper application. With more than 30
models, you'll find everything from slow to fast actions
tailored to their proper use. Exclusive Carbon Veil
technology produces a 100 percent high-modulus
graphite blank that's lightweight and sensitive. Includes
Fuji Hardloy® guides and Fuji reel seats.
Fenwick rods can be found at most major retailers
including Angler’s Den, Cabela’s, Fish Tech Outfitters
Smith and Edwards, and Sportsman’s Warehouse.
Our friends at Firestone
helped us out with a $500
gift certificate. We held a
drawing of the anglers
present to award the gift
certificate.

Catch-A-Cure and Camp Hobé - 2010
Catch-A-Cure for Cancer makes a tremendous contribution to Camp Hobé
each year. In 2009, the event raised almost $12,000, which was used to
support our program activities in 2010. This amount covered many of our
expenses for providing the fun activities for the kids – things like supplies
for our storybook activities, backpacks for our campers to carry all their toys
and crafts, rain ponchos for our campers, and SCUBA introductory dives for
our Teens.
When we participate in events like this one, it becomes clear that
it isn’t about us, but about the kids and their families who
participate at Camp Hobe’. Camp Hobe’ brings joy to their lives
at a time when things are at their lowest.
It was “brought home” when Nancy Galbraith spoke to us as one
of the Camp Hobe’ families. Nancy’s daughter was with us last
year as a Camp Hobe’ participant (and at CAC). Unfortunately
she passed away in November. It was one of the most touching
moments out of all of the Catch-A-Cure events I have fished.
This is why we attend and why we should get our friends and
buddies to come join us next year. ALL of the money raised goes
to Camp Hobe’. None is kept and no one gets paid.
Catch-A-Cure makes a tremendous difference to Camp Hobé. This event
helps us keep the cost low to our families, many of whom are struggling
with the costs of paying for cancer therapy. Our registration fees are
$25/kid for the weeklong sessions and $10/kid for the 2-day Day camp. We
have not raised these fees since 2001, even though our costs have gone up.
We estimate that it costs us about $600/kid for the weeklong sessions, an
amount that includes everything from the fun stuff (activities!) to the less
fun but necessary (food, insurance, medical supplies, lease fees). We also
waive the registration fees for families in need, so that their children can
attend camp free of charge! This year, we gave fee waivers to 47 of our
campers, or about 25% of them, which is much more than the previous
year. We know that the need exists for low-cost support programs.
In June 2010, we served a total of 189 campers – 34 at our Day Camp, 108
at our Kids Week, and 47 at our Teen week. This is about the same amount
as the previous year. Our goal is to serve more campers each year. Great
events like Catch-A-Cure help make it all possible.
Thank you for all you do for the kids!
