JANUARY 28, 2015 CHEERLEADERS Senior night is Feb. 17th at 7:15 PM The NOHS high school cheerleaders have had a busy season so far. They have been participating in different fundraising opportunities to raise money for their program. They held their annual Mini Cheerleading Clinic for girls in Kindergarten through the sixth grade on December 30th. The participants performed during the JV halftime. The girls have also been selling popcorn and hosting a bake sale during all of the home basketball games. Be sure to stop by the NOHS cheerleading table on 2/13 for the opportunity to purchase old cheerleading uniforms! The NOHS coaching staff and cheerleaders thank everyone for their support. GIRLS BASKETBALL NEWS Senior night is Feb. 7th at 6:00 PM Upcoming games: 01/24/15 Saturday Mike, 01/28/15 01/31/15 Wednesday Amherst Away Saturday Olmsted Falls Home I just wanted to forward to you an email from one of our parents and also a photo that was taken at the swim meet last night. We had a girl that is not a strong swimmer who had been competing on the swim team for the past four years. She has been asking our coach to swim the 500 all season so the coach decided to allow her to swim yesterday. Needless to say, she finished in last place but she did finish the race for the first time. Varsity Team – Girls Basketball The lady Eagles are led by Hayley Hicks who is averaging 12.2 points a game and Stephanie Kemp at 9.8 points a game. The lady eagles have played a number of the best teams in the area as of late and have competed with great effort. The team is truly starting to play with a common goal and is starting to believe that playing 5 individuals as 1 team is the only way things can work. The support and sportsmanship that was shown last night by both schools during Jenna’s race was tremendous. When high school students are continuously scrutinized for their behavior at sporting events, it’s nice to see this type of positive behavior. JV Team – Girls Basketball The JV women’s basketball team has improved their record to 6-7. The girls are starting to click and play well together. As the ladies move into the second half of the season the girls have had recent success by moving the ball around well, developing post-moves, and handling defensive pressure. Wednesday night (1-21-15) – The Eagles won 47-16 against Gilmour. It was good overall team effort and balanced scoring that led to the victory. Aliyah Rodriguez and Roro Summins led the team with 8 and 10 points. In addition, Nicole Robinson and Cheyenne Lewis hit a couple of big shots in the second half Letter from the Bay Village Athletic Department – Great sportsmanship eagle swimmers! Thank you to your swim coach and team for supporting our swimmer during this race.
