CHEERLEADERS
Senior night is Feb. 17th at 7:15 PM
The NOHS high school cheerleaders have had a busy season
so far. They have been participating in different fundraising
opportunities to raise money for their program. They held
their annual Mini Cheerleading Clinic for girls in Kindergarten
through the sixth grade on December 30th. The participants
performed during the JV halftime. The girls have also been
selling popcorn and hosting a bake sale during all of the
home basketball games. Be sure to stop by the NOHS
cheerleading table on 2/13 for the opportunity to purchase
old cheerleading uniforms! The NOHS coaching staff and
cheerleaders thank everyone for their support.

I just wanted to forward to you an email from one of our parents
and also a photo that was taken at the swim meet last night.
We had a girl that is not a strong swimmer who had been
competing on the swim team for the past four years. She
has been asking our coach to swim the 500 all season so the
coach decided to allow her to swim yesterday. Needless to
say, she finished in last place but she did finish the race for
the first time.
Varsity Team – Girls Basketball
The lady Eagles are led by Hayley Hicks who is averaging
12.2 points a game and Stephanie Kemp at 9.8 points a
game. The lady eagles have played a number of the best
teams in the area as of late and have competed with great
effort. The team is truly starting to play with a common goal
and is starting to believe that playing 5 individuals as 1 team
is the only way things can work.
The support and sportsmanship that was shown last night
by both schools during Jenna’s race was tremendous. When
high school students are continuously scrutinized for their
behavior at sporting events, it’s nice to see this type of
positive behavior.
JV Team – Girls Basketball
The JV women’s basketball team has improved their record
to 6-7. The girls are starting to click and play well together.
As the ladies move into the second half of the season the
girls have had recent success by moving the ball around well,
developing post-moves, and handling defensive pressure.
Wednesday night (1-21-15) – The Eagles won 47-16 against
Gilmour. It was good overall team effort and balanced scoring
that led to the victory. Aliyah Rodriguez and Roro Summins
led the team with 8 and 10 points. In addition, Nicole
Robinson and Cheyenne Lewis hit a couple of big shots in
the second half
Letter from the Bay Village Athletic Department –
Great sportsmanship eagle swimmers!
Thank you to your swim coach and team for supporting our
swimmer during this race.

Varsity Team
The Varsity Boys Basketball team is currently 8-5 overall, and
4-2 in SWC play.
The team was just handed a difficult loss on Tuesday to
Berea-Midpark, 70-42. Ryan Coleman led the Eagles with 12
points.
It has been an exciting season for the team so far. The Eagles
roared out to a 7-0 record, but then lost 4 straight before
rebounding with a 50-32 win at Westlake last Friday night.
The leading scorers for the team are Andy Lucien (20.4 PPG),
Ryan Coleman (10.5 PPG), and Matt Starcovic (10.2 PPG).
Andy Lucien also leads the team in rebounds (9.3 RPG) and
blocked shots (2.0 BPG). Ryan Coleman leads the team
steals with 22, Josh Hufstetler leads the team in assists with
43, and Matt Starcovic leads the team in 3-point shots made
with 24.
Highlights from the season include a come-from-behind 72-70
win at Parma in the season opener, beating Bay at Quicken
Loans Arena the next afternoon, and playing tough against
an undefeated, state-ranked Lorain team. A great 76-65 road
win at rival Olmsted Falls took the Eagles to 5-0.
JANUARY 28, 2015 • PG.2
Individual highlights include Andy Lucien’s 34-point
scoring game vs. Parma, his 31-point, 17-rebound game
vs. Bay, his Plain Dealer Player of the Week Honor, and
his selection as an ESPN Sportscenter Top 10 highlight
from his dunk vs. Westlake.
Ryan Coleman also had a 17-rebound game vs. Bay,
while Josh Hufstetler had 13 assists vs. Lorain, which was
1 assist shy of tying a single game school record.
A season defining 4-game stretch lies ahead for the
team, with a home game Friday night vs. Avon Lake.
The Eagles then travel to Amherst next Tuesday before
returning home for an important re-match with Olmsted
Falls on Friday, Jan. 30. The following week on Feb. 3,
the Eagles will look for revenge at first place Brecksville.
Come out and support your
Eagles boys basketball team!
JV Team
The JV Boys basketball team has competed well in their
last few games, but fell to Berea Midpark, Westlake, and
Normandy. The team has been led by Junior point guard
Andy Kearny, Junior Shooting guard Paris Villanueva,
and Junior Forwards Ben Wykowski and Erik Holston.
Sophomores Jae Shin and Jett Kobak have added
valuable minutes to the team as well. The JV Boys play
this Friday at home against Avon Lake.
9th Grade
The freshmen team continues to grind each and every
week. Currently the team is 4-9 and has yet to reach their
potential. Every member of this team has contributed to
the success they have had thus far. I am very proud of
their efforts and desire to get better. I believe more wins
are on the horizon but still have much more work to do!
