27th World Invitational Father and Son Golf Tournament 2016 Waterville, Co Kerry, Ireland August 10th – 14th Schedule of Events Wednesday 10th August Official Practice Round Drinks Reception at Waterville Golf Links Barbeque & Entertainment at Waterville Golf Links Thursday 11th August First Round of the Tournament Redbreast Long Drive Competition from 10th Tee at Waterville Golf Links & Redbreast Whiskey Reception Friday 12th August Second Round of the Tournament Gala Dinner in Marquee at Waterville Golf Links 36 hole Cut for Championship and Plate Flights Saturday 13th August Final Round of the Tournament Prize Giving immediately after play in the clubhouse Barbeque at Butler Arms Hotel Registration All competitors are required to register in person with the Golf Team before 6pm on Wednesday 10th August. The Golf Desk, Hospitality and Tournament staff will be located in the Tournament Marquee at Waterville Golf Links. Handicaps All players must present proof of official handicap. Each player must check-in in person at the golf desk to verify authenticity. Handicap information must also be provided in advance of arrival. US Players must provide their GHIN number as all handicaps will be verified through the GHIN system. US Handicaps will be adjust ed to reflect the slope rating at Waterville. Irish Players must produce their GUI Card on arrival. All handicaps will be verified through the GUI System. Other International Players must produce a letter from their golf club and the relevant union / federation credentials. Carr Golf will call all golf clubs to confirm membership status and verify handi caps. All handicaps will be confirmed with players before the commence ment of play and the committee will adjust handicaps based on a team’s past performance over the previous three years. The Tour nament will operate on ¾ of the handicap system. The maximum handicap allowable is 24, thus maximum number of shots any player is entitled to is 18. On Friday when the format is Scotch Foursomes, 50% of the combined handicaps will be the calculation for scoring. Format & Program of Play Two man teams of Father & Son play a total of 54 holes in a best ball Stableford & Scotch Foursomes format. Prizes Prizes will be awarded to the following winners. Championship: 1st-3rd Plate: 1st-3rd Gross: 1st-3rd Adopted: 1st & 2nd Best score each day: Attwood, Weadock and Meszkat Trophies Tiger Trophy: Best Overseas (donated by Dermot Desmond) Best Dressed: 1st Long Drive: 1st (Junior & Senior Category) Pace of Play We have three dedicated Rangers who will ensure groups are keeping up with the pace of play. The Rangers will be very strict on slow play. Please co-operate with the Rangers if you are approached. Caddies & Carts Caddies are available on a best efforts basis. Caddies are limited in numbers and are not employed by the club or Carr Golf. Caddies are recommended at €60 per bag and a minimum of €10 tip per bag, per day. We strongly urge you to make sure your caddy requests are sent in prior to the event. Waterville Golf Links has 25 Golf Carts which should be reserved in advance. Carts cost €50 per round, can be reserved via Carr Golf and paid for at Waterville Golf Links reception. Locker Room Thursday 11th: Best Ball Stableford format (best individual score per hole counts towards the team score) Locker Room facilities are available within the Clubhouse throughout the tournament. The Locker Room will be open at least 30 minutes prior to the Practice Range opening on each day. Each team will be assigned locker space throughout play, identifiable by name plaques. Some teams will be required to share lockers. Friday 12th: Scotch Foursomes Stableford format (Both players drive & play alternative shot off chosen drive) Starters Saturday 13th: Best Ball Stableford format (best individual score per hole counts towards the team score) Wednesday 10th: Practice Round All Day Flights There are four Flights in the event. These are the Gross Flight, Nett Flight, Adopted Flight and Plate Flight. The Gross Flight is for the best Gross Score over the three days. The Nett Flight (Championship Flight) will be for the 27th World Invitational Father & Son Trophy (JB Carr’s Irish Amateur Trophy). After 36 holes there will be a cut where the top 16 teams and ties or teams within 10 points of lead qualify to play in the final round. The remainder of the teams will play in a one day Plate Flight using the better ball format. There is also an Adopted Flight for non-Father & Son teams and this is contested on a Nett Basis. Flight Leaders will tee off at the same time on the same tee on the Final Day The Official Starters on all three Championship days are Marty and Gerry Carr. Scoring The VPAR Scoring Team will be providing Championship scor ing throughout. Live scoring will be visible on mobile devices, on TV screens throughout the Tournament and online at www.carrgolf.com. The Scoring Desk will be located in the marquee. Each Group (two teams) will be issued with a VPAR Device and we would ask each designated Scorer in the Group to update the device after each hole. A brief demonstration will be offered on the first tee each day. Leaderboards Leaderboards will be automatically updated by the system and there will be screens located in the main marquee and in the clubhouse. Leaderboards are also accessible through the Carr Golf Travel website www.carrgolf.com. Ties In the event of a tie in the Championship, a best ball sudden death playoff will take place on the 18th Hole. The tied teams will play the 18th hole until the winner is decided. SkyCaddie Each Team will be issued a Distance Measurement Device, provided by SkyCaddie. These devices are permitted for use in the event. Drawsheet Drawsheets and daily leaderboards will be printed at the end of each day and distributed across hotels, restaurants and by email. Additional Information Transport within Waterville is provided via shuttle. Please contact Transport Marquee for transfers. Buffet Lunch is served Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Golf Club. Tournament Gifts will be left in your room upon your arrival or shortly after. Opening Times 1st & 10th Tee Tournament tees, markers, pitch mark repairers and pencils will be provided on both tees for the duration of the tournament. As will water, fruit and chocolate. NO stopping will be permitted when making the turn. *The Tournament will operate a Two Tee Start System.
