CONVENER’S MESSAGE
‘AVENUES’ the placement cell of Kirori Mal College works with the aim of providing a strong interlink
between the corporate world and the academia. It’s a common platform where companies’
recruitment hunt ends and students’ aspiration of dream jobs are met. In continuation to this we
arrange seminars, workshops, talks etc. for professional preparation of our students. We focus to
create a professional environment for placement of more than 22 different discipline’s graduate and
post graduate students of our college.
In addition to arranging the on-campus and off-campus interviews every year, we also provide our
students an exposure towards internships and career opportunities. The Rethink Personality Quotient
Programme was also introduced to help make the Placement Cell more like a career guidance unit
rather than just final placement service providers. Team Avenues has also been pro-actively interacting
with the industry to understand the expectations of recruiters and the trends in employments. We
have used this information to impart appropriate additional skills to students and improving their
acceptance rate over the years.
Since its inception, team Avenues has been continually striving to set a higher benchmark for
recruitments. This is evident from the fact that we are consistently successfully hosting an increasing
number of companies each session. As a result the conversion rate of student’s placement has
increased exponentially.
We continue to seek the support and encouragement of the academia and corporate world to provide
career opportunities for the students and making them responsible citizens.

SUPPORT SYSTEM
Seminar Room
The seminar room is a modern
and state-of-the-art facility
"comparable to the best" that
any equivalent institution has to
offer. Prominent seminars to
acquaint the students with new
trends and development in
academics and the industrial
sector are a regular feature.
Library
College Canteen
Besides fulfilling its original purpose,
the college canteen also acts as one of
the hubs for students to take a break
from their busy schedules and relax.
The ground in front of the canteen is
always buzzing with activities of
various
kinds,
from
debating
interactions to musical delights.
Overall, the canteen is one of the most
exciting spots to be at if one gets a
period off.
The N.S. Pradhan Memorial
Library is one of the most
extensive libraries that Delhi
University has to offer. It caters
not only to the college’s
requirements but also stocks
leisure books and books of
general awareness especially in
the industrial sector. It is fully
computerised, houses about 1.5
lakh books and has the capacity
to accommodate about 350
students.
Portal Room
The college portal is the backbone
of the college in many ways. The
nondescript room, always buzzing
with activity, boasts of both
machine and man power that have
single handedly managed the
admission process of the college.
Hostel
The hostel is an integral part of
the college family. Its 89 rooms
house about I70 students both
from India and abroad. It has an
intercom facility. The hostel adds
a dimension of vigor and
commitment to the academic
and extracurricular ambience of
the institution.
Central Computer Lab
The computer center is a
fully air-conditioned facility.
It enables students to stay
abreast of changing trends in
today’s industrial structure.
Students make full use of this
facility to hone their skills at
handling computers.
OUR WEBSITE
Kirori Mal College was among the first to setup it’s
portal www.kmcollege.ac.in
On 1 June, 2001, it became the first college of Delhi
University to begin online admissions in the country. The
site has helped the students to easily access the
information about college anytime. This has also
enabled visiting corporates and other industries to easily
access the potential that students have to offer.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
SPORTS
KMC encourages sports by providing world class
facilities to promote many sports including
hockey, basketball, badminton, volleyball, boxing,
chess, cricket, football, table-tennis etc. in both
men & women categories. The KMC sports family
has the honor of having a Dronacharya Awardee,
an Arjun Awardee, International Master and
many international performers as member. Also
many sport persons from the college are
representing not only the college but Delhi
University, different states and India as well. The
college was one of the Training Venues during
Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. On the eve of
the college’s 50th anniversary, a fully equipped
gymnasium was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. M.L.
Khurana, Former Governor of Rajasthan, which is
now improved with latest international standard
equipment.

ABOUT AVENUES
Avenues, the Placement cell of the Kirori Mal College, is the oldest and unquestionably the most
established amongst the placement cells of various colleges of DU. It is and has always been a
strong interlink between the corporate world and the academia. It is a forum, managed by a team of
students and guided by faculty, which brings the best of companies for recruitments as well as
internships to the college. Companies of all backgrounds, from finance to human resources have
successfully recruited students from the college in the past. Other than inviting and hosting
companies that have an established relationship with the college, like Ernst and Young, KPMG, UBS
Verity, Genpact, Wipro, Oberoi Hotels, Avenues is consistently working to attract more blue chip
companies. It is also conducting seminars and workshops at a regular basis with the purpose of
keeping the students of the college abreast of various developments in the corporate world through
the Rethinking Personality Quotient Programme. Companies from all over the world have recognised
the strength of the curriculum of the University of Delhi, which includes subjects varying from
Bengali to Political Science to Statistics. As a result, Multinational Companies like Google, Ernst and
Young, Deloitte, Wipro and many more have satisfactorily recruited many students from the college,
and continue doing so.
Avenues has also formed a ‘job works’ department which focuses primarily on providing job works
to the students of the college. Instead of outsourcing the work to private companies, job works like
translation, statistical analysis, editing, tallying data, etc. are given to students of the college who get
paid for the work and also gain experience.
The placement cell has always strived to identify the students’ potentialities and has unconditionally
worked to initiate programmes to achieve the same. The corporate world has had precise
requirements when it comes to selecting students and Avenues has had a consistent history of
fulfilling their requirements for the same. Yet still, to the students, it is providing a platform to the
enthusiastic talents ready to explore the new horizons with the growing requirements of the
corporate world.
